Hi, I get a ZE and before swap it on my mx-3 my mechanic change the timing belt, he do it wrong and the crankshaft is 30º over the marks. He try to start the engine some times and it start one or two with problems. The question is:
Start a ZE with wrong timing can damage valves or something in the engine?
I search around and many people says than this kind of engines can´t be damaged by timing, but I need to know it exactly because I have to reclame to the garage.
Thanks a lot
A bad timing can damage the engine?
a broken timing belt should be a big problem for the engine, but a timing belt turned for 30° doesn´t imo make a problem just the engine is not running correctly....if the engine is turning through and doens´t give abnormal noise, i think it´s okay
But if you have to reclame it...then they should look after the engine if its damaged or not...f.e. with an endoscope
