As far as I know, all this is is a resistor you can wire inline. By hooking it up to a certain sensor, you can fool the ECU into thinking it needs to supply more gas -- or something like that. You can achieve this yourself by stepping on the gas pedal. :driver: Hehehe...

I've always thought it'd be fun to wire up a bunch of potentiometers (variable resistors) in between the sifferent sensors, and you could over ride just about everything that the ECU sees. :2thumbsup: Now, if we could actually amplify a signal, that'd be really cool... shouldn't bee too hard to design. Anyway, I think you get the idea of this device now.

Hehehe, heck I've even seen someone post a "spoof" ad of this idea by describing how much extra power a person would get, and the pictire is just of a 10-cent resistor. :laugh:

those $10 e-bay power chips are a waste. they basically trick your ECU and cause your engine to run rich. this may have short term benefits of a slight power increase, but that will be short lived. in the end, you'll foul out your plugs fast, piss off your O2 sensor(prolly foul it out too), and clog your cats faster. the worst part is that you'll be burning way more gas than you need to be for the power you are making, hitting your wallet @ the pump and making you slower with an engine that's fouled up with carbon deposits. running rich will actually cause your oil to break down faster too, especially if your piston rings are in less than ideal condition.

want more power? get a CAI and high flow cats. keep your engine in good tune with regular replacement of spark plugs, disty cap, rotor, oil changes, and run 89 octane in it most of the time*. keep that $10 in your pocket instead of wasting it on an e-bay power chip.

* my car has always been happier on 89 octane gas than 87 octane gas. i didn't notice any additional benefits over the 89 octane gas by running 93 octane gas.

good to know, i would get a cool air intake but does anyone even make one for the 4cyl dohc?? or do i have to go custom style???

hey thanx djgypsy i never thought you could use the sohc intake with the dohc but if that does all work like showin in the pics then i might just have to order me one of those!!!!

the kit you see in the isntall pics in that post is for the SOHC. i ended up not using some parts that are for the SOHC airflow sensor, obviously. i'm quite happy with the product, i've had it installed since august. no problems, just a nice intake roar, more pull and a smile.
