(Boost wise) KLDE vs. KLZE
KLZE engines are low mileaged enginew (under 60k miles)
KLDE engines, well depends on the Probe, 626 or MX6 you take it out of. Most of the time they are at about 100k miles or more
KLZE engines go for about $1000 along with the right ECU and VAF setup
KLDE engines, you can get them for about $300 along with ECU and VAF ($150 from a junkyard if the engine needs rebuild).
A KLZE has 200hp/160ft torque
A KLDE has 160hp/160ft torque
KLZE, higher comp pistons, better flowing IntakeManfold (less boost friendly)
KLDE, lower comp pistons (more boost friendly)
For boost, what would you rather have?
I think I would rather have a KLDE. Those $700 could be saved to put a turbo system on it. Dont forget it has less compression which makes it easier to tune.
KLZEs would still be best but my goal would be at 260hp and last time I checked, all you need is a KLDE and turbo to get there.

Re: (Boost wise) KLDE vs. KLZE
biggest JDM myth ever: it is never a given that just because ur JDM engine came from a JDM depot it's under 60 000 miles ... i doubt most JDM merchants even know which exact JDM models these JDM engines came JDM out of !Juans_93_MX3 wrote:KLZE engines are low mileaged enginew (under 60k miles)
so JDM that!

Dont forget that u get more HP per pound of boost on the ZE cause of its higher compression, thats a good thing : ).
Well i chose to boost a ZE...soo theres my ..choice...

I think is just depends on the person. If you really know your stuff and are not afraid of the consequences of running a boosted ze that is not tuned properly. Than go with a ze because you get more hp quicker. I choose de because it will be my first time ever going boosted and i know i will make mistakes along the way.

Exactly. Less boost needed, quicker spool, same power quicker.XxantwawnxX wrote:Dont forget that u get more HP per pound of boost on the ZE cause of its higher compression, thats a good thing : ).

I dont know
I am in the middle right now of decideing on what engine to go with
A KLDE is about $500-$700 cheaper then a KLZE and alot easier to find and get. However, a KLZE will benefit more power from a turbo, quicker spool and right off the bat you have a extra 40HP.

I boosted my ZE and reliably ran 10lbs for quite some time. Now I'm gonna try a DE because my turbo is a little big and it's efficiency range is just barely getting touched at the 10psi level. On a de I'll run 13-15lbs and possibly get into the meatier part of the efficiency range on my turbo. We'll see how it goes. I'm getting a DE for free so it's worth a try.
If you're running a smaller turbo (standard 57 trim t3/t4 you see on eBay) and not pushing past 7psi or so a ZE would definitely be the way to go.

yo man put it this way i saw some dude pull 200 plus to the wheel with mega squirt all motor...now im not saying that all motor is best i just cant afford boost....honestly.....but it depends how much $$$ and time your willing to spend i mean you can pull just as much power either way ....but like i said....$$$$ has alot to do with it

well i personally would say that the klze would be faster.
Theoretically the klze has 30-40 more HP than the DE.
The ze will be quicker to Accelerate from low rpm's

I still cant find anywhere in the shop manual where it says there should be a 1in hole in the side of the block. (Blown K8) #6 rod thrown through block.

i'd take a ZE boosted at 10psi over a DE bosted at 15
