Hmm i think that the biggest difference in our opinions are that we're in two different countries.
I dont know what the MX-3 cost from new in the US, but in denmark the price was $47.539.
Considered that I gave around $12.000 for it and the fact that I could sell it for about 8-9.000, that leaves a lot of money for repairs, when you compare it with a new car.
And yes, the curve is roughly an exponential decay, but the decay for the MX3 is simply not as steep as most other cars.. here at least
The part with the equipment is NOT invalid, since new cars with the same options generally cost $1500-2500 more than those without.
(Oh and there's a huge difference in wanting a car that looks good and drive fast and a pimp car.. at least IMO )
So we are most likely both right, considered where we live.

There needs to be an option for "I bought my MX-3 second hand, but no longer own an MX-3."

I bought my mX-3 brand new when there was only 8 new ones left in canada and i still have it. It still only has 34 000 orginal kilometers as its my show car and its still mint. I also have a 1992 GS and I am the second owner and the car has 106 000 orginal kilometers and in great condition.

Original Owner??
I am owner #6. the ownership changed hands twice between two different families before it was sold to the owner before me I think that sounds right, sounds confusing too...sorry!!
I must have had my head buried deep in the sand between 1992 and 1996, the end of highschool and then college, oh yeah, I remember, I liked those little Chevy Trackers, bought it brand new in 1995 and totaled it in 1996, then sued the jerk who nearly killed me in that accident and totalled my car. I guess if I had a MX-3 at that time instead, I wouldn't be here now, 'cause it was a head on crash and what saved us was the roll over top of the car that hit us. Better late than never eh???

I won my MX-3 from the ArtCar contest in 1993 from Mazda. It was their promotional campaign that launched the car. They decided after my winning that it was too expensive to do year after year. I custom ordered my GS and I am still the proud owner!
