question on installing a disty
question on installing a disty
Some of you know a deer killed my disty and cap so i am going to replace it tomorrow and I wanted to know some tips and stuff I should watch out for because I was hearing that I need to watch out how I install it so I don’t get the timing off is that try and if so what should I do to know mess up?

If you're so concern about disty position you could simply mark original position of it so then you bolt the new one on the exactly same place.
If you miss the position for some reason, put the engine in diag mode (TEN+GND) and adjust the timming with a timming light...
Then again I wouldn't be so concern as our engine retard the timming as need so you never get detonation. Thank you Mazda!

the probe disty works i done it when mine went the junkyards around here dont have any mx3s insted of takin my disty out all i did was change everythin inside the ignition module, rotor, the cap, and i assume the crank sensor not sure tho had to take it apart a couple time to get the rotor right and then advance the timing just a hair works awsome now but if ur concerend about changin that stuff then do the whole disty but yes a probe will fit identical

Yes, the 93-97 Ford Probe GT(V6), Mazda Mx-6(V6), Mazda 626(V6) distys all work on the Mx-3(V6) engines. The insides have different coils, of each year disty. But no need to exchange the insides.

well i am low to the ground so i scooped him up and when he hit my hood remember where the disty is located right there on top to the front and thats what the deer landed on. going to the junk yard dismorning and getting a new one.

if its from a KL-DE it will work just fine
