12 wire colours for cd deck?
I got a 1993 precidia 3.0L 5spd, american car ,the guy that owned the car before cut the stereo harness and took the cd player with him, now i have 12 wires that i need to figure out what they do, i was wondering if any body knew these 12 wire colours what they are , im afraid of fryin something with tieing the wrong wires together, thanks
get a test light and test with test light grounded all wires with ignition on and ignition off. That will eliminate 12v constant and switched 12 volt. Once the hot wire (constant 12 volt) is found attach the grounding clip to that wire and test all other wires. You will find 2 grounds. 1 will be common ground the other will be a dimmer/illimination ground. Turn the lights on and off and the ground will dissapear. that eliminates 4 of the 12 leaving 8 that are speaker wires. Get a 9 volt battery and touch in combinations of 2 wires 1 to each prong on the 9 volt. when a speaker buzzes you have found the right 2 wires. Mark the wires as u go it will make it easier.

1- Mx-3's are all made in Japanfudgee1988 wrote:I got a 1993 precidia 3.0L 5spd, american car
2- You have 2 options, the 1.6L SOHC 4cyl, or the 1.8L V6. Possible custom upgrades are the 1.8L DOHC "BP" or the 2.5L "KL" v6.
Never heard or seen a 3.0l in an Mx-3

3.0 L lol, that would be interesting in an mx3... anyways back to the main subject, the wiring diagram on this website did not help me when i was installing my deck, and the colours mentioned in it had nothing to do with the actual colours in my car, so if that's the case with u, what i suggest to do is take it easy and don't rush at all, this might sound dumb but beware of any red wires, and make sure to connect them where they belong. i have fried my amp, and my deck because of some loose wires, so take your time and don't rush it.
