there is a search button at the top of the page. Use it because it is very helpful. just type in what you want to know and it will bring up all post relevant to your search, and this question has been asked several times. Most people will tell you to go with a BP and boost it. a lot less headaches for sure

It can be done but is a really major project. Much more than just the engine needs to be swapped. THis thread is talking about the 1.8 V6 swap into a 4 cyl model but I the same essessment applies for the KLZE idea of a swap into your car.

BP engines are found in proteges. If you have the SOHC 4cylinder, a 1990-94 protege engine will be a plug and play swap. Escort GT engines work too, not 100% on the years though. You can even keep your original wiring harness, and tranny (although swapping in a protege tranny is recomended too.

If you want a BPT, it's just a japanese BP that's setup for a turbo (lower comp pistons, and all other turbo necessities). That will plug and play too i think.

It is definitely easier doing a BP/BPT swap than a ze swap. You can find BP engines at corksport (not sure where ya live, they're in BC). http://corksport.com/page/17zl9/Home/J- ... gines.html

Buying a BP engine and tranny from a junkyard, and turboing that would be way cheaper though.
1993 1.6L SOHC. Mazdaspeed mounts, BP09 ECU, BP VAF, Fidanza miata flywheel, exedy miata pressure plate, centerforce mx3 disc, tokico struts, B&G lowering springs, and some sh***y motomaster tires.

I disagree buying a bpt is cheaper then buying a bp and then turboing it.
95 RS so far just a paintjob, rims suspension next then turbo...
Image I have turbo dreams and detanation nightmares
