removing engine without removing transmission

does anybody know if it's possible to remove a 4 cylinder engine from my 1994 MX3 parts car without removing the transmission?? any help is appreciated thanks.

Yes, but you need to take your axles out.

Nah the tranny comes right out with the engine and is easier to get to all the bolts when its all out in one piece!

well, when your on a budget and cant afford a hoist like me, and you just gave it back to your dad, then you do what you can to improvize. like only taking out the drivers side axel, get everything unbolted and ready to go. put a jack under the engine and another under the trans, then jack the car itself up so the engine will lower to the ground. lay it on its side and drag that mother out of there. ha ha lol. im sad to say i have done it. but when changing the engine i almost never pull the trans too. i just pull the one axel and slide it over.

That sounds like how we yank the motors outta my buddy's MR2's Josh. Though we still use a hoist.. we just use it to lift the body of the car off the engine & tranny ;)

I not a mechanic but I love working with cars so now that I know that it's possible I'm just gonna wait to see if the guy comes trough with the cash for it.
