Engine rebuild...

Post by Pentathlon »

A friend has been thinking/trying to persuade me to let him rebuild my engine with him (he's got mechanical skills...unlike me) but I'm just wondering what I'm gonna need to look at replacing just by doing it?

It's done almost 170000miles so could do with it, but what do I need to buy and any ideas of prices/places to buy from in the states(i'm in the uk but can arrange shipping through friends in NM!).

ALSO...probabaly MORE importantly: will American parts fit my UK car (assuming they're the same year!)??

Cheers!

k8 is a k8 on any soil.
k8 rebiuld parts are rare. thats why most peaple opt to swap.

a kf swap will do if you are not looken for more power
a kl swap will bring nice power and a easy rebiuld down the road.

or have you freind source a used kl and rebiuld it.
JUDGE ME ALL YOU WANT

You can get KLZE's for max $1000 Thats about what its going to cost you to rebuilt the k8. or you can get de's from a pgt or mx6 for like under $500 easily. Its going to be alot less work, just pull the motor and drop in.
