IAT (Intake Air Temperature) help plz

Post by v4NDALu »

Hello guys, sorry about messing you again... Can anyone please post here a picture that show's where is the IAT (Intake Air Temprature) unit located? I'm doing some mod's on my k8 and i have here a box that connects there, maybe doesn't do anything but anyway i wanna test. If someone can post the picture here i will be very happy.

P.s. once again sorry my bad english

Cheers

There is coolant temp unit, black plastic, on the bottom right of the throttle body. Has a black coolant hose connected it and the sit on the left.

The way I understand it to work is the ECU varies the map based on the signal from the coolant temp sensor for cold running, and the VAF tells the ECU how much physical air is flowing.

The VAF should in theory be displaced more by denser cooler air.

No IAT as such.

Happy to be proved wrong, but thats my limited understanding.

loool.. it's like i have paied less then nothing for this box so is not a big problem if this doesn't do nothing.. but i wanna try it anyway.. so anyone can post a picture where this should be connect? I will post the instructions donw here so u can help me.. CHEERS.

Performance Upgrade Modification Instructions

These instructions are generic to most vehicles. You may have to do some searching to find your IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sending unit is located. It is usually located in the Air Intake Tube (where the air flows into your engine) or it may be located in the intake manifold, or right around your throttle body. It should be a connector /plug with two small wires going to it, and a clip on the side of the plug.

BEFORE PROCEEDING BE SURE TO DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY! THIS IS A MUST!!

1. Locate the IAT Sensor plug.
2. If it has more then 2 wires, that’s not it.
3. Unplug IAT sensor by lifting up the tab on the side of the plug and pulling the plug off.
4. Put the two wire ends of the Speed Seeker into the two open holes located on the IAT plug. (The end with the wires) Put one wire into each hole. Gently push it all the way down, but don’t force it.
5. Remove sticker off the mounting tape located on the back of the Speed Seeker. Mount with the adhesive so that Speed Seeker is away from a heat source, in a clean and dry location.
6. Leave plug disconnected and secure the loose plug with electrical tape so it doesn’t flop around or get into the fan.
7. Reconnect your battery.

I have seen people mention the use of Premium Fuel but it is not Required
Use this at your own risk, I cannot be held responsible for anything you do with this kit, this has been tested and will 100% NOT harm your vehicle or the vehicles computer.

I strongly suggest not using this device. It's a way for this unit to fool the ECU into thinking the car is running colder and thereby richen the mixture. The K8 engine is already a rich running engine by design. Adding to this will decrease power potential, and serve to possibly foul plugs in short order. This type of product has been advertised for numerous years on Ebay, although under different names or guises. There have been threads in this Forum on this type of product before - so it may be best to search those to find proof for yourself. Experimenting with cheap gizmo's is not exactly a wise choice with the MX and hopefully you don't create bigger problems down the road. If you're looking for better performance through Air/Fuel mixtures why not look to some after marker Engine Management Systems like MegaSquirt. As mentioned previously, it's not a good idea.
