Im thinking of putting a stage 2 or stage 3 clutch in my car. While swapping the clutch out i was thinking of changing the flywheel as well. I was thinking about having a 4-6lb flywheel engineered.
What do you think ?

I still cant find anywhere in the shop manual where it says there should be a 1in hole in the side of the block. (Blown K8) #6 rod thrown through block.

MX-3 w/ curved neck millenia klde, boosted @ 5 psi. /bov and wastegate are good!/ nitto drag radial/ gutted interior/ millenia red top injectors, vortech fmu/aem wideband/ all bolts ons/ Car put together 100% by me. Mechanic? who needs a mechanic? ew.. real men work on their own cars!

clutch pack will lunch it in ten minutes with any decent HP
Fidanza and I are currently at logger heads over their 9lbs as
my motor lunched it and the clutch pack they supplied even though
they where given the HP specs and useage .........

820 hp with a 4 1/2lb flywheel
the only way to go super light is a flexplate with a 2 or 3 pack
clutch.

You could use a Quartermaster or Tilton flywheel with one of their 7.5" or 5.25" dia clutch set-ups if they are still available but I haven't seen them listed in there catalogs since at least 1998. They have 2 advantages over a standard machine flywheel and single disc clutch. Very low stationary mass and the rotational mass is centered closer to the axis of rotation meaning that it would take significantly less energy to accellerate or decellerate the clutch and flywheel assy even if they were to weigh the same a similar conventional clutch set-up..Zoso124 wrote:9lbs is light enough.
