Egr question on a B6-DE

Post by xmaster19 »

I need to get rid of the EGR. Can I just leave it unplugged? Can I remove the valve and use a blockoff plate? Will the ECU let me run the engine perfectly without the EGR?

For those who like to criticize before answering, I dont have a B6-DE anymore, I'm running a B5-ZE. JDM engines dont have any EGR on them.

Setup :

B5-ZE engine (ATX version)
BP-DE TB
B6-DE intake manifold
B6-DE VAF
B6-DE wire harness (injector harness too)
B6-DE injectors
B6-DE ECU
B6-DE wire harness
B5-ZE exhaust manifold
BP-DE exhaust line
B6-ME CAI

well since you are running the B6-DE ecu you will have to leave the egr valve plugged in or you will have an engine light!!! That would go for all the solinoids also(i dont think the jdm engine has the solinoids either?)

But you can block the pipe hole with a plate and just leave valve hanging or bolt it up if you can..but you have to have the valve plugged in!!

Considering the fact I'm using the B6-DE intake manifold, I do have all the solenoids.

So what you suggest is that I block the EGR tubing that goes to the exhaust manifold, and leave the valve there and plugged.

Thx for help.

You'll have to give me a ride if you come by Gatineau sometime. Leave me a pm.

Just wondering, but why did you go to a B5 from the B6?
