So why are Torque Converters a bad idea for a Daily Driver?

Post by Juans_93_MX3 »

I think I know the idea of torque converters
Torque Converters let you hold the brake and hold the gas to higher RPMs then 2000RPMs. Probably something like 3500RPMs
In other words, let you launch like a manual car.

But other than that, why are they a bad idea for daily driving?

torque converters ARE used in every single automatic car for daily driving.. you mean a HIGH stall converter? i evenb forgot of the name of the thing you are talking about but they are not called torque converters.. torque converter is the round thing that is inside the automatic tranny bolting to the "flex plate" aka automatic flywheel.

High stall converters are ok for a daily driver. I am pretty sure they create a bit more heat so make sure to get a good transmimssion cooler. If you havent rebuilt your transmission you might want to do so when you get a new converter.
