I used both originally after my swap.

I used the starter from my B6 because it looks like the previous owner had recently replace it and it was shiny. After almost a year on the BP, my engine still starts on the first crank.

I had used the original B6 alternator for a while but it eventually died. I do not think it died because it was on a bigger engine, just its time. The only thing I had to do was swap the alternator accessory pully.

When that alternator died, I picked up a rebuilt Pro LX alternator.

If you are using the transmission that came in your B6, then definitely. It might be short-lived with the power of the BP. If you have the opportunity to upgrade while doing the swap, then by all means, do it. Save the hassle of doing it later.

I went with an ACT street performance clutch from Corksport, though when I upgrade from the F-series trans to a G-series, I will be doing the lightweight flywheel and a different clutch. The ACT holds up to a lot of abuse with the BP, though.

Stock, the engine puts out 125 hp at the flywheel. By the time it gets to the tires, you are looking at around 105-110 to the wheels.

Of course, there are tons of things you can do to the BP to make it better thanks to the Protege and Miata.

its very quick with a N/A BP in the mx-3 but not like fast like a evo or turbo car. but that is a matter of opionion form MX-3 guys that have done or driven BP powered MX-3's. I liked the gain vs the B6 motors. not to mention i when u get to say (yeah i got a BP in my MX-3)

There is also no replacement for displacement. The BP has .2 extra liters. Also you can start using BPT stuff in the future if you wanna go turbo like the sweet GTX and GTR Intake Manifolds.

Exactly. Yeah, it will not throw down with a Supra, Evo, WRX, etc. But the car looks cool and with the BP, it is also fun to drive.

And once you get a BP, you can get Miata performance internals, Protege headers, BPT or other turbo kits, etc. It basically becomes more 'tunable' with the BP.

I plan on rebuiding my BP motor before I swap it into my RS. So what internal mods can I do to the BP to get the most of it.
