quick swap question

Post by WingleBeast »

im helping my buddy out with a standard BP swap.

he bought it off ebay but didnt get the harness or ECU. i told him on the FAQ it says you needed the engine ECU so hes looking at a protege harness online but we have a question.

will the Protege ECU plug right into the B6 harness and that harness right into the BP engine?

this is why i stick with the 1.6

If the car had a SOHC engine (92-93) then the ecu would plug-in. The engine harness is pretty much the same except SOHC does not have VICS and BP has VICS - so you need to a bit of extra wiring for that (i think its just 1 wire). The DOHC engine harness is much different i think - i dont know if the ecu will plug in either (even though BP is DOHC it wont fit the B6D harness).

I made the swap plug & play by grabbing a ECU & Engine harness from the 90-94 Protege LX. It cost me $7 for the whole harness, plus $40 for the ECU.
