Best gear oil?

Post by 2.5mazda »

I am wondering about using penzoil synchro mesh, but have heard different kinds also work well. Is there anything I should stay away from completely? Let me know what you run, I have a GS tranny, if that makes a difference in your choices.
thanks for the help!

Get the Redline Shockproof. From experience, it blows away the MT-90.

Its gear oil, NOT ATF

You can run ATF as a lubricant in your trasmission either works. Hell check the OEM spec manuals many mazdas come with it in a MTX from the facotry.

I ran penzoil Syncromesh worked like a dream.

I think I have a 1/2 quart of Mercon ATF in my gearbox right now. It is specified in the manual for colder climates.

Yes I know you can run ATF in the TX, but what I'm saying is that Redline Shockproof is NOT an ATF.
