car died now won't start.....HELP!!!!!!!

Post by exdream_mx3 »

Heading back to work on lunch. I pulled out of the road and gave it gas. The second i did that the gas pedal kinda got soft went to the floor and the car just shut off. I drifted to the side of the road and there i sat!!!! The car has spark and is getting fuel. It will crank over but will not start. Completely out of ideas . Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Check the hoses that go into the air intake flex pipe/hose to make sure they are secure. I had bumped the larger one that feeds into the throttle body while cleaning the engine bay and had very similar issues trying to get it running. Just my .02

my timing belt slipped once. it was only a few teeth but still enough to not let the engine run.

also i know this sounds simple but did you check your throttle body?

checked tb and timing belt. Both are fine. Timing belt was a tad bit loose not by much though. Still nothing. Just acts like it doesn't even want to try. It cranks and cranks but nothing. Just replaced plugs and wires to see if anything at all will make a difference. Just out of ideas completely. Any other help is appreciated.

Actually, as I just had to help a friend diagnose something similar on his Audi, did you check to make sure your fuel pump is pushing fuel? Check the wiring to the pump to make sure it is sending voltage when you turn the ignition on. Then if it gets voltage, check the fuel send line at the engine to make sure it is sending fuel to the engine.

Did you check the MAF sensor ? car wont start without it, also did you check to see if your throttle was closed if your TPS reads 5.0 volts (throttle fully open) car wont start either did you check cruise control to see if it maybe opening your throttle? maybe the clutch sensor under the dash came loose or broke ,need that also for it to start. maybe even your ECU. good luck

if your timing belt is loose, it might have slipped, there is a possibility your cams are no longer properly timed with your crank... i would try retiming the engine

1. Check injectors for proper voltage
2. Check fuel regulator for proper operation
3. Check the ground straps on your engine and tranny
