*FEELER* Carbon Fiber WIPER COWL

Post by Neil »

Hey guys,

Now that the CF Radiator Support and CF Gas Door Cover group buy is over we’re doing a FEELER thread to see who’s SERIOUS about being interested in a Carbon Fiber Wiper Cowl!

They will be made from the same 2x2 5.7 ounce Carbon Fiber as the CF Radiator and Gas Covers. It will be a one peace CF wiper cowl with a high gloss finish. Like the radiator and gas cover these will be produced by Oscar@PakfeiferCanada I will just be running the group buy. IF there is enough serious interest in this.

There is no official price yet but the estimated price is to be close to the marshmallow price which I believe was around $260USD. This isn’t the set-in-stone official price this is just a estimate.

So the big question is how many people would actually purchase one if this turns into a group buy? And how many people would be serious about this?

I would definitely like to have one of those but at estaimated $300.cdn, that's way too rich for my blood. My original one is faded and warped and in need of replacement. It would be nice to see how the estimated cost breakdown works out. Not that I'm suspicious, it's that I really can't see something fairly simple as this that's not of a structural intent or design to cost so much. In my mind, a reasonable price would be around 150 to 175 usd. How does this cost/price compare to other JDM vehicles that have a CF wiper cowl? I seem to recall getting into a bidding war on ebay for a CF wiper cowl that I eventually bailed on it because of the extreme price (approx $200usd I think) and let the other bidder have it. As it eneded up, the winning bidders deal fell through and the vender emailed me asking if I wanted it at my last bidding price. It was too expensive for any ebay'r and myself then and it still is. Hope you can negotiate a cheaper price from Oscar. I'm sure these will be quite a bit more popular than the rad support, since there's a lot of members that are very cosmetic conscious about their MX's. I on the other hand am looking for a suitable replacement for the oem. If another oem wiper cowl were to present itself that was in fairly pristine shape, I would snap it up in a heart beat since I'm sure it would be much cheaper. Hope this BB works out well, g/l

I am assuming that it will attach the same way as the stock one does...If so how do you plan to hide the screws? The pop in plastic covers are a precious comodity and most of us are missing at least one. How do you plan to tackle this problem with a carbon Fiber Cowl? It would look kinda goofy to put those plastic covers on a carbonfiber cowl wouldn't it? And would they even fit it? Just wondering if yall have thought about that?
