I read through the swap faq and all it really says is how to take the K8 out and then says do then do everything in reverse for installing the ZE. So that didnt help at all. Then I searched and found a hose diagram for the MX-6, and I am having trouble since things dont seem to match up with a millenia intake and other MX-3 parts. I could try hooking everything up like the MX-6 diagram and guess where things plug into the intake manifold, but heres the problem: it appears I have 3 VRIS solenoids valves and one is hooked up to both VRIS actuators,I believe I have the Purge control SV(solenoid valve), but not the Pressure Regulator Control SV, I have both the EGR vacuum and vent SVs, but the line to the EGR is not hooked up because I cant find where it plugs into. There is a line going from a VRIS solenoid to my second EGR(on the back on the IM), but that EGR is not functioning and looks different from my other working EGR.
I am sure I just confused the hell out of you. What would really help is if anyone can tell me if anything on the MX-6 diagram doesnt hook up the way it shows and where on the Millenia IM things connect to.
I have a KL-36 ECU, so no CEl or codes, until i figure out the LED thing. The engine does start and things seem okay, it definitely has more power than the K8. But I would like to have everything connected properly. Also, I want to take the EGR off the back of the Mil IM and plate it, is there anyway to get to it without taking the enitre IM off? And when i shift, there is a knocking sound which seems to be coming from just infront of my feet, any ideas?

Check your engine mounts for a torn or worn out one. I'd bet that is the knocking sound.
As for vaccum, make it more simple. Take the EGR off and block the hole with a simple plate. (you can make one with a dremel and a piece of steel or flat metal of the like)
Then with all that out of the way you just removed 2 silinoids. You will get EGR codes though, but no big deal. The EGR siliniods are the ones attached to it and the one on the firewall just below the windshield cowel. The 2 VRIS siliniods will need to be hooked up as per the MX-6 or MX-3 diagram. The have a seperate source of vaccum from the underside of the intake and do not lead to anything but the VRIS.
The fuel pressure regulator can plumb from another source on the intake to the siliniod and then to the pressure regulator.
That shouold be the only vaccum you need to properly run the car.
If you have cruise controll there will be a vaccum source on the passanger side of the intake to plumb to the cruise booster.

Thanks Pat, I dont knwo what this site would do without you. Unfortunately, Utah law requires me to have an EGR, it doesnt necessarily need to be functioning, but they do look for it. And I have cruise control, but it doesnt work...could just be because its not connected properly. I am planning on getting a smaller aftermarket steering wheel(being tall has its dowsides), so the cruise might be out anyway. But where is the cruise booster? I believe the solenoid on the firewall is the Purge control valve, am I correct? I am tempted to just pull everything out and start from scratch following the MX6 or MX3 diagram, but am worried about what goes where on the IM.

I took a few pictures hoping they might help you help me.

Here is the VRIS, you can see its connected to both actuators and an empty spot next to it where the other solenoid should be.

Circled in red is what I believe to be the other VRIS solenoid, not sure what its connected to. The green is the two EGR solenoid valves.

This what appears to be a third VRIS solenoid, correct me if I am wrong.

I will try to get some pics tomorrow of my setup. All of my vacuum lines have been replaed and are in red so it will be easier to see.

That is real pretty and all, but might I make a suggestion.
This could get me into trouble, but why not just fake the EGR and don't have the hassel of keeping up with it if something breaks on it. 1. just run the necessary vaccum to make the VRIS work 2. then run some lines to make it look like the EGR is hooked up and let them try and figure it out on inspection.
you'd save yourself alot of headache trying to get it hooked up and will never really know if it is right as long as there is no vaccum leak you cannot tell if the EGR is working without thoroughly testing it.
I'd bet 20/1 that they cannot tell or really don't give a crap. We are supposed to have EGR here too, but they see the charcoal canister (about the only part of the EGR that can be seen anyway) and have never questioned me. I leave a vaccum hose attached to the charcoal canister and the rest isn't even on the car. If they were to question me I'd say it is under and behind the intake manifold and let them try to find it.
Also, on a note to defend myself against tree hugging remarks. My ZE passes with flying colors and thus I'm not hurting anyone or anything by running without the EGR.

I would second Pat's suggestion. I too kept the cannister and vent/vaccum solenoids with the associated lines running to give the impression that all EGR components are there and operational.

Okay, went and got some new vacuum hoses and hooked them up according to the diagram and precidians pics. Everything seems to be working and the car started right up just fine, so i think its good now. The loose hose that two different mechanics couldnt figure out where it plugged into, actually went to the EGR valve.
Patdiesel: thanks for the help, I got the EGR all hooked up so I shouldnt have problems with inspections...at least after I pull the other EGR off and plate it. I am not really concerned with it working properly, just about passing emissions.
Precidian: Thanks for the help and taking the time to grab some pictures for me. Couple quick questions though; You have a black hose connected to the PCV valve on the front right side of the valve cover and its connected to the back side of the intake, but mine connects right behind the throttle body where you have a red hose connected and the back corner where yours goes to is capped off on mine.. From the diagram it looks like the valve should be connected where mine is, but I doubt it matters since both are on the IM. But where does the other end of that red hose connect to? Also, the line coming off the purge control solenoid, not the one going to the charcoal canister, it is supposed to go to the intake. I cant tell where it is going on yours, so I found a nipple on the back side by the Millenia EGR that I connected it to, but yours seems to be going the otehr direction, so I was just wondering where yours goes.

Ok well i have to resurect this because i am in the middle of doing this right now, and i have confused the hell out of myself. Pictures = GREAT awsome, love em. The one thing i DON"T get, is this. and pat you shoudl be able to help me. (when are those fuel rails comming by the way?)
