also make sure the offset of the rims you are looking at are similar to the stock offset of 42mm.
Plus the tire would would need on 16s are 205/50 -16s. That is 0.8% slow compared to stock. If your speedo reads 60mph, then you are travelling at 60.5mph.

if you want to see the results, try the tire calculator here.. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Yeah bolt pat is 4x100

Right now I have winter rims/tires 185/65-15(radius 311mm or 12.2in) so I think 205/55-16(radius 316mm or 12.4in) will be ok.

Actually I have 2 buy choice’s

205/55-15 with http://www.drewsauto.ee/img/veljed/thunder_20278.jpg
205/55-16 with http://www.drewsauto.ee/img/veljed/tech5.jpg

I am sure you could fit them on a drive around fine with them, but it would look ghay. Those tires are way to big for that size rim on an mx-3.

or check the tire calculator I posted above...

If you are concerened about the speedo being correct, then I would go with the below specs..

the 205/50-16s are the best fit compared to stock if you have the GS.

the 205/45-16s are the best fit compared to stock if you have the RS.

205/45R16 will be 2.6% too fast on the speedo (GS).
I will go for that on my Rota Sub-Zeros. :)
