The ABS computer is located under the passenger side seat. That's one possibility to check if your car has ABS or not.

Find a big open space (long, wide and empty), get up to about 25 mph, hit the breaks hard. ABS causes a very destinctive feeling throughout the entire car.

For the less dramatic approach; lift your car up and look on your calipers. Standard breaks just have the break line, ABS will have a few extras.

It's not really a bad thing, it will make you feel like the car is out of control, but it's more control than if your wheel locks. If your racing it will probably throw you off if your not used to braking hard, but thats about it.

your idea sounds fun but the car doesn't drive yet.. i have to pull out the v6 and put the bp in before it will run... but i'll look at the calipers tomorrow morning

If your car still has the label on the door frame (where the vin and date of manufacture etc etc is printed) - it might tell you if the car came with abs or not. Ofcourse someone might have upgraded to abs on a non abs car....

IF you hav abs you will have the ABS light on or off, ALso under the brake resevoir there is a square battery like looking thing that has lines to it. It has abs. remove the wheen and look for ABS sensor. I checked and i dont have extra lines to my tires but i have the annoying abs light and sensors are there.

My ABS

Post by Paylrider »

I have ABS however it is broken right now, however as posted above there is a computer under the drivers seat and the ABS Hydraulic pump under the battery. All dashes have the ABS light, regardless if the car has ABS or not, and the lights stay off when its broken if you unplug the computer under the drivers seat and unplug the relay behind and below the drivers headlight.

vanished: my logic? bp engine ways less than the v6 engine and has more hp and has a larder aftermarket selection of goodies and will have tons more room in the engine bay... oh and i can make it all wheel drive.. good luck finding an easy way to do an AWD v6

i think the car is not abs couldn't find any extra sensors near the wheels and the master cylinder looked pretty basic no battery or anthing near it

The K8 and the BP are pretty equal in HP (K8=130hp, BP=125hp).

The K8 will be smoother, however.

And good luck to YOU finding an "easy" way to do an AWD MX-3 in general... Its only been done once.
