ebay MBC

Post by fieromx3 »

ok i need to tone the boost down on the talon as its boosting like 6-7psi over stock. ive tried to turn it down by getting help from ppl on dsmtuners.com. i got things on to make one but i dont wanna try it lol does anyone have experiences from cheap 10 dollar ebay MBC's? i dont got the money for a really good boost control so im looking at my options here and something MUST be donr soon before i cook the engine... so all i need is ur honest opinions of ebay MBC's

also whats ur take on spring and ball type?

Well on a stock setup and its overboosting that is a problem with the Wastegate no being big enough for your upgraded exhaust and intake I guess? Thats what my friend is having trouble with. He had to overport the wastegate to quick his overboosting.

dsmtuners said it might be that which causes spiking cuz thru 1st and second it will hold 15psi nicely and 3-4-5 will go spike up to 21psi from 15psi but i still need something to tune the boost down so id really like opinions on the MBC

Didn't Bugs just say you don't need a boost controller you need a larger more efficient waste gate?
A boost controller is really a simple device, but I wouldn't trust your expensive motor to a crappy boost controller if that is what you think you really need.

a boost controller cannot turn down your boost!!

If your car is stock and boosting that much psi, you need to look elsewhere for a leak or something.

All a boost controller will do is allow you to raise boost from where it is at now.

ok ok well i did alot of research to find out what was wrong and bugs is actually dead on-srry bugs. the 3'' exhaust is actually the problem cuz the wastegate isnt large enough no more the 3'' is flowing too much now causing all the exhaust gas to flow thru the turbine outlet which is spooling the turbo more and more as it isnt flowing thru the WG no more to allow regulation of boost. i hope that made sense to ppl. anyway its called boost creep and most ppl port the WG housing to let the exhaust flow freely. a solution is sometimes a catilitic will help(i have no cat rite now) porting the WG housing, or switch to an external gate im sure there might be more but thats all i know for now. srry guys!

I guess I still got it. :)

Ya if I wasn't rushed for time I probably would of added in something about boost creep and whatnot, but usually that is a symptum of extreme exhaust/intake but more exhaust.
