Stock Head unit Help.

Post by placham »

Hi, my brother has a MX-3 and the stock HU he had was accidental locked down with that stupid anti-theft code by my dad ( he did not know what he was doing when he was driving and searching the radio stations, he entered the code wheich he does not remember)

This is a FUJITSU TEN LIMITED headunit Model: " CE-3430TY1A "also has this on it " EA01 66 9C0A " serial number: 9410737

Car had no CD Player/changer on it stock just the head unit RAdIO/CASSETTE.
Currently he has a IAWA think that's how you spell it radio with CD, piece of crap for about 120 USD should of gotten a Pioneer instead but I was too late to exchange " This is the first IAWA that he/I owned bad experience with it as CD will not play any more because some ERROR sesage is displayed, if that' s the case with all IAWA HU I would't refer it to any one.

Any way just have stock MAZDA radio HU wired to a Nissan 240sx, radio powers on and lights up with parking lamp switch in on possition just that dame " err " message keeps flashing, I can still enter a code by pressing about 5 different buttons but I dont have a correct code.

There has to be a way to clear it or bypass it, that's what they probably do in the factory, impossible to throw away a good radio just because of 4 stupid digits.

I found on the internet how to unlock a Miata radio but not the MX-3.

If anyone know how to unlock the radio please let me know ( I did not steall it eather, this is a legit radio from a car currently being woned)

I have sent a e-mail to FUJITSU TEN also just need help anyhow I can get it.

this is how it looks like a drawing of it with plug pin-outs/wiring
http://www.mx-3.com/tech/audsys/aud_sys_amfm-deck.gif

on this page you can see the actuall picture of it (I allready tried "AUDIO SYSTEM ANTI-THEFT CODE INSTRUCTIONS" "C" "B does not work I have no clock button" " A is basicaly entering a new code if you know the old one and it tells you not to forget it, ge thanks" "D I dont understeand it clearly"

http://www.mx-3.com/tech/audsys/

In short I dont have the code and I dont know it (I will never know it)
Is there a way to bypass the anti-theft and use the radio again?(I know there has to be a way but need the right person with the right answers)

I'm not planing to do any major sound system upgrades in the Nissan so that is why I just want to use the mazda radio as the old nissan one was a duble din type and this mazda radio is a single din radio.

SORRY If I wrote a lot just want to be clear.

E-mail placham@yahoo.com

And thanks for any input
THANKS

Maybe I did not make myself clear. The radio will enter the "Locked" error mode if the wrong code is entered three times in one session. Once this happens the radio cannot be unlocked even if the correct code is entered and therefore will have to be re-programmed by a qualified repair shop.

Incorrect.
Depending on the year, even if its locked can be unlocked, thats the purpose of the codes. Some years unfortunatley the codes do not work.
My 92GS was locked. I use it everyday.

I did not realize that a "back door procedure" was available. I was simply communicating what the owners manual states and I quote:
"CAUTION:
An incorrect entry will be each time allowed twice, "Err"
will appear and you can try again. However, three
consecutive errors will activate the antitheft system,
and the audio unit will be completelly inoperable and "Err"
will flash. When this happens, the unit must be replaced
by an Authorized Mazda Dealer at the owner's expense."

BTW - The procedure you reference from your link also has the following statement (listed below) which also states what I posted in my previous posts. So I am correct.

"NOTE: The below sequences have not been personally
verified by me, and may only work on some OEM MX-3
radio models. Use them at your own risk. I am not
responsible for any damage that is done to your radio
unit. If the code is attempted 3 times,
you may be permanently locked out."

I belive that this "back door" procedure only works on units that have not had their original code changed from original factory setting.

 placham let us know if the procedure works for your radio.

G/L :)

Thanks for your reply I have seen these AUDIO SYSTEM ANTI-THEFT CODE INSTRUCTIONS procedures prior to posting.

"A" procedure just basicaly explains the anti-theft preaty much same thing that's in the owners manual.

"B" correct me if I'm wrong but I dont think that my radio has the "clock button" feature which would be step 4 of the procedure.

I have tried "C" couple of times and it did not work I have yet "D" to play around with and experiment with it but I will try both "C,D" couple of morre times

Also does any one know where the anti-theft code is stored is it inside of the radio circuit board or the face circuit board with the control buttons.

Sorry it took me awhile to reply but no one was posting anyting

Thanks

Thanks
It's stored in an EEPROM in the main circuit board.

I have contacted FUJITSU TEN LIMITED manufacturer of the MX-3 stock HU and this is what they wrote back;

For your locked up Mazda unit, you can either call your closest Mazda
dealer for the unlock. Or you can call 1-800-237-5413 and go to
the OEM service option so one of our representatives can help you
with a claim to send that unit in for decoding. Charge for the
decode only is $25.00. Thank you for your email.

Fujitsu Ten Corp of America

MY : 1993
Vehicle : MAZDA MX-3 GS (US V6 model)
Model No. : EA01 66 9C0A
F-Ten No. : CE-3430TY1A
Loaded Deck : DK-80-24
Service Manual No. : SM-758
Spec. : CS Tuner

P.S. what do they mean by "Service Manual No. :SM-758" is there a service manual for this radio?

Probably it's possible to unlock the radio your self, eather there is some sort of a procedure or they have to hook it up to a electronic device something like "OBD2 connector" to comunicate with the radio

Yes, they use an eeprom programmer to dump a new file.
