New guy here - 92 GS

Post by infiniGTR »

I've been lurking around for a little while now and I decided to finally intorduce myself. I picked up a black 92 GS with leather interior back on the 31st of December in Lewisville, Tx. I bought the car off of eBay for $610. Overall the car wasn't in that bad of shape for a 14 year old car with 189k on the clock. The body is fairly straight with a little hail damage on the roof and hood. There are a few minor dents in the body, but it could use a new paint job. The interior was really dirty when I got the car. There was a layer of dust covering everything, the tint was peeling and was impossible to see out of, the outside door handles were no longer screwed on, they were just kinda hanging there. Luckily the bolts to hold them on had just fallen off and were inside the door still. All I had to do was tighten them back on. The car leaked oil pretty badly from both valve covers, the battery was leaking acid, the cv axles both have torn boots, the bushings for the shifter are non exiistant making for a very sloppy shifter, the paint on the drivers door was faded and real oxidized looking, the HVAC light was burned out, there was a pool of water in the spare tire well, and the auto seatbelts are fucked.
To date I have cleaned and vaccumed the interior (found ~$17 in change! lol), removed the nasty tint, replaced both valve cover gaskets, changed the oil, replaced the plugs/wires/distry cap, new air filter, threw on the ZX2's w/Sprint springs from my Protege, put on my 16's, buffed out the drivers door and layed down a couple coats of wax, and replaced the battery. Next is a kartboy short shifter, bronzoil and SRD bushings to fix the annoying sloppy shifter. The thing looks like an entirley different car after I buffed out the door, waxed the car and threw on my rims.

I also own a 93 Protege LX with full JDM exterior including bumpers, rear garnish, grill, corner lights and also a set of espec headlights. Custom interior including black mx3 carpet, mx3 seats, custom black headliner and interior pieces. The car is currently undergoing a GTR motor swap (http://www.clubprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13566" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Im an Administrator over on iMazda and have been in the Mazda family since 98. The mx3 is my current daily driver and will eventually get a klze with i/h/e. You can read a more detailed event list on the mx3 in this thread: http://www.clubprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21511" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I've kept that thread pretty much updated with everything I've done so far. There are a lot of pictures too.

lol - naw it was just really faded out for some reason. IDK if the previous owner replaced it or what, but it was gross looking.
