Mikey, these resistors are only about 1/4" long, so soldering 3 or 4 inline will only end up being about 1" to 1.5" in total length and will run parallel in the dead cavity space of the steering hub adapter. I was thinking on sleeving a clear tube over them after they've soldered, just to give them that extra support. Kinda like heat shrink tubing. I think that should suffice, but like i said, I think it may be difficult to source a single resistor with the correct value. BTW, got that box of resistors from Radio Shack (ur, the "Source") because they didn't have the correct value one(s) in the first place. Oh ya, tried the new wheel out today too, feels niiiiiiiice!!!

I think by this point it's been confirmed. I have officially hijacked this thread. Sorry Barry,

Technically I wouldn't call it hijacked, the information we provided will be useful for anyone putting on an aftermarket wheel that has cruise control

BTW, good idea on the resistor setup.

Don't know why I didn't think of this before, but instead of putting a compilation of resistors together to attain the correct resistance value, why not just get a used or disposed of, cruise control switch from someone who's gotten rid of their cruise control switch and just de-solder the 2 resistors off the mini circuit board. Taras is going to give it a stab, but it doesn't hurt to get another one in case I pooch the solder job and bugger up the correct resistance value. These are just tiny little resisters that will fit into any small envelope. If anyone's got a switch to dispose of I'll take the little mini circuit board which will also fit into a small envelope. Thanks,
john

Thought I'd post the finished product. MS Leather Steering Wheel with hub with new "Temp" buttons mounted on hub for cruise control functions - Set/Coast and Resume/Accel. They work quite well. Thanks Mike for the schematic!!

I'm trying to wire-up the cruise control with resistors and 2 smaller switches....
Can anyone tell me what are the specs on the resistors I need?
Maybe even some pics? I'll read the specs myself. I'm not lazy or anything, but doesn't make sense to take it all apart to see which ones I need, put it back together and go buy them.

Thanks!

Actually Jbeef posted in the first page.

Thanks Mike ...."JBeef", sheesh ...LOL
I ended up using the original resistors courtesy of Mike (Nd4SpdSe) since trying to source resistors meant ganging up a multitude of resistors together to get the correct value. The pic above clearly shows the 2 intermittent buttons (Rado Shack) used for my cruise control.
Glad to see someone obviously did a search on this. Props!! :2thumbsup:

I finally changed my steering wheel. On my first setup, I ran the cruise control wires thru the edge/side of the hub. But after test driving the wires were cut coz it was rubbing between the hub and harness cover.

I want to install the cruise control swtich on my steering wheel but how do I run the wires from the steering wheel column thru the base of hub?

I just pulled my factory wheel...with the help of a puller...and what do you know I kept all my teeth. I'm going to take photos throughout the installation of my aftermarket hub and wheel for future reference. I'm going to mount the cruise buttons behing the ignition like Nd4SpdSE. Try and use reference for wiring. I'll keep you posted.
