Turbo question
Turbo question
I want to use a T3 turbo in my setup. I want a high reving engine (8000rpm) and want to use a turbo which does'n't get out of breath before that. So what trubine housing and trim should I use??? Looking for power around 180-200HP.
I have a B6 DOHC. I'd like to start of running with around 9psi, maybe in the future up to around 15psi. I'd like to got to around 180 hp at the wheels. Parts for engine rebuilding are already ordered. Going to balance everything so I can reach the 8000rpm without reliabilty issues, and I want to have a turbo which doesn't get short og breath around 6500-7000 rpm.
Bugs: That vj20 turbo you're using, would it bolt onto a stock B6t exhaust manifold???

No, way too big for what he wants. I would probably go with a T3 with a 50 Trim at the most (Still probably too big). They support up to around 250whp in most applications. So for the 1.6, 200 would be pretty easy. But I would still say just ditch the B6 and swap a BP. Search for author named "Josh" then read up on his B6 setup. With my BP only running around 140whp it was dead even with his BUILT B6 turbo engine.n2ogsze wrote:A variation of a t3/t4 hybrid would suit you nicely.

Also to reach 8000rpm's balancing will not help you that much because you're still gonna float the valves... you might wanna look at getting stiffer springs and/or titanium retainers and switching to solid lifters.

yea you should just go BPT. why do you want to rev your engine to 8000, when you can easily and safely make 180hp with the bpt @ 6000?
