Where's a good place to buy parts in TO?

Post by mamoo »

I need a new alternator for my 95 V4 auto ... any tips on where to get a good price on a quality (new) part? Downtown, if possible?

Where do you guys buy your parts? Order them online, maybe?

For an alternator you can go to the wreckers (try "standard") and get a used one or find a local starter/alternator shop they should be able to help you.

I think a new one would be a waste of dough.....unless you have it to waste

Alternators from the ford probe, Mazda MX-6 and 626 shoud work too but not sure if there are wire color differences.

Me personally, i would find a local starter/alt shop.

Oh...FYI, i have also heard of people getting their alt re-wound and and boosting the output (for guys with lots of electronics or huge stereos)

Yep..any alternator/starter shop should be able to rebuild it for ya. Stock is 90amp on the 1.8L Alot of people get them rebuilt and go with 120amp or so.

If I remember correctly the 1.6L 4cyl is a 75amp
