Results - SSAUTOCHROME Headers.

Post by 4u2nv »

Come on ppl - post the HP & TQ gains. It would only make sense to buy a "performance part" if you know what the results are.

The makers claim 25HP..buy if that were the case every K series engine would be running around with them. I'm looking for real world gains.

Does anyone know if the ones on ebay and there website are sold by the same company? 'cause the website asks for $295 & ebay only $225.

Thanks!!

That would be a huge profit dive. I seriously doubt the same company sells both retail and ebay at those price differences.

All the hot shot knock offs on ebay and everywhere else are the same. They are made in China. Same as the Ludespeed knockoff turbo pipes on eBay for $500.

As for the gains I don't believe anyone has seen that type of gain on an N/A motor. Maybe like 8hp, but that's an estimate too. When I put my hot shots on my probe I did a lot of stuff at the same time so I couldn't nail down the actual gains.

well I managed 165WHP and 165TQ with stock K8 headers on ZE with only phenolic spacers, weapon-r FPR, ZE ECU & MS-8 Manifold. So wondering if they would make that much a difference from K8 to ssautochrome Gen2 style headers.

Back a couple a years ago when tekguy dyno'd his car with new headers he lost something like 1 HP!! That's why i'm skeptical.

So in essence, what you are asking for is a before and after dyno between stock and these headers to get the numbers you're looking for. Maybe you should have asked for a dyno request. I think you'll find a lot of members in the same situation as "hppwdn", wherein if a before and after dyno was done there was probably a number of other mods done at the same time to negate any acccurate estimates as to header gains. No one's going to do a before and after dyno just for headers - not unless they had free acces to one I would imagine. If you believe you may be better off with the stock headers, then by all means stick with them.

RELAX....with the attitude. All I ask is for your experience with these headers. HP/TQ gains, easy of isntallation & gut feeling. If the average person gains 15HP with simple intake & exhaust OR FPR & mike seli's chip...it's setting up benchmark. Everyone knows how much power each mod should net....This is not exact but it's for everyone to interupt for themselves.

If ppl start dynoing K&N filters with 2.25 crush bent pipes & Hotshot headers with only 8HP gains safe to say headers aren't netting much...
However if the same mods net 18HP the headers are account for most of the power.

Please refrain from posting anything, if it doesn't contribute positively to the discussion.

Thanks.

lol thats mx-3.com for ya :) well i NEED to dyno mine.. because before the headers it woulod not pull as nice as it does now. The headers had some logo on them but i forgot..it did not say ss autochome. This is what i gained so far..at work there is this hill where my car would NOT^| go go voer 80 mph..immediatelly after the headers..i can cruise at 100 mph uphill... before my friends pgt and my car were almost the same ..he would win..now i gain on him fast of course i did not gain 100000 hp.. i would say around 7 - 9 estimated? i mean it doesnt take that much hp to go up a hill. this hill s around 2 mile longgoing upward. i can scare ricers by spinning tire without having to rev first. AGAIN not HUGE gains because its an na motor kfze the cheap 160 hp version but compared to the k8 all i can say is wow. I CANT IMAGINE a klde or a ze with these :O
-hec

MX-3 w/ curved neck millenia klde, boosted @ 5 psi. /bov and wastegate are good!/ nitto drag radial/ gutted interior/ millenia red top injectors, vortech fmu/aem wideband/ all bolts ons/ Car put together 100% by me. Mechanic? who needs a mechanic? ew.. real men work on their own cars!

I think you will find a better response to this question on probetalk or mx6.com, somewhere with a larger member base and maybe more resources. I know there are alot of people that have doubts about the ss autochrome headers, and alot of people that like them. Ive been in an mx3 with the 1.8 collectorson a ze, then the same care with the ssautochrome headers, and there was an obvious difference, but not as much as i though there would be...now weather I was drunk and couldnt feel the actual gain, i dont know....but I wasnt extremely impressed.

Take a look at the headers FAQ that Gro made up too for some ideas.

Wow... Didn't know about that HEADERS FAQ.

Thanks for your input. I'll head over to probetalk for HP gains. I'm sure now the headers will an MX-3 without having to be modified, with the exception of relocating the CAT back some inches.
