18's and build a wall, use the hatch for air space. Mxmaz, most of the time, the people with the really good stereo's compete for prizes. kind of like a car show. normal people don't crusie around pounding 156 db. my hearings fine, most of my friends have competition level stereo's in there rides. One word: ear plugs.........

When you sit in a car for a few seconds, and it makes you have to go to the bathroom 'cause its shaking your insides so bad. THATS COOL!

10's or even 8's result in better overall sound quality properly tuned in a ported box. This is the result of endless experimenting of my own. obviously your sacrificing sheer DB's for sound quality...but thats easily made up with an extra woofer.

8's? you gotta be kidding me......minimum 10 or 12.....But I guess it depends on what type of tunes you listen to........8's would probably be good for classical and stuff........Dance techno 10's or 12's for the punch. 15's for the hip hop......

all right, i got 8 's inch kicker comps the sound Quality i think sound great, i went with those cause i needed the trunk space, Also, i think for true dance musice, HOUSE, DNB & etc needs 8's because the base hits for such a short time the cone is still moving when the next beat hit.

I personally went with 2 Memphis 15s :D You want to talk bout a hell of a install lol but its all good i had to face the front of the sub towards the seats thought cause i had major major box issues *took me 2 nights* if i had to do it over defintly would have fiber glassed. But live and learn the still ratter the hell of of the car *specally the back bumper lol* But all in all the 12,15,18 debate is all on you musical prefernce and what you are looking for. If you want like a comp SPL system 15,18s are on top right now. But if you like more rock then 12s unless you want to go with RE seeing as they are one of the few ppl that over a good spl/sq 15

12's because they can go PRETTY low and still retain some decent accuracy.

Running Crossfire Amps. 2 VR2000D amps, 1 VR401 amp and 1 VR404 amp. Crossfire indash Line driver, 2 optima yellow top batteries, 10 farat tsunami cap.. http://www.cardomain.com/id/wkdmx3gsr

Helps to be sponsored also. have sponsors from both companies...

if you guys havent heard of Diamond Audio and Crossfire they are AWSOME. I also have a VR2000D & VR401 In my 2002 WRX with a Crossfire 1500 watt 15 dvc sub inverted in a dual ported box hits crazy loud. they are a little $$$$$$ money than Rockford or JL but sound so much better.

My newest setup in my 98 ford zx2 is two 10" RE XXX in ported box, Orion 2500D amp (subs 1600 RMS each, amp does 2500RMS) Orion 4004 4 channel, Orion 5x7 coaxials in rear and 2 sets of C series components up front (1 set in doors other in kickpanels) Alpind CDA-9835 headunit. Rediculous amounts of dynomat, expanding foam and weatherstripping. 200A peak denso h/o altenator,2.0F cap, optima battery, 0 guage wire, and awesome sound quality. This setup was sponsored by my work (car stereo shop) in return for free advertising on my car. Plus i have to show off my car out front of the place when I work. My old system went into the mx-3. That consists of a panasonic CQC-8301U 3d motion mp3 headunit w/XM radio. Panasonic coaxials front and rear, US-AMPS DE-1000 powering a 12" Orion HCCA (amp soes 1000 watts RMS sub rated for 600 rms) and a US amps USA-4300X 4 channel powering the speakers. True SQ IMO, and i highly reccomend the panasonic coaxial speakers. Some of the cleanest speakers at a real good price. I was personally amazed how loud these speakers can be pushed before any noticable distortion or overdriving of the high frequencies. Comparable to higher end components and they are just coaxials!

Here is a link to some heavy duty 80's & 90's music from the boys of my home town. I'm sure they will sound good in 10's, 12's, 15's, 18's or any other setup.
