The 2 trans will bolt up, however I don't believe the gearbox's from the 93 models will be compatible with your speedometer gear. The problem is the 94+ models have an electronic speedometer gear while the 92-93's have a cable driven gear. It is possible to switch gauge clusters to accomadate the cable driven trans though. I've done this with mine.

Another trans that will work is the Protege's 95-98 (sec. gen) gearbox. Gearing is a little taller with this one.

Everything is plug and play.

On my 92 gauge cluster, my clock dosen't work. Everything else does. The clusters are a little different the way the electronic grids are on the back. My 94 wiring connectors still plug into the back of it though.

If you find a gearbox from the sec. gen Protege, you won't have to go through all this trouble. This car also used an electronic speedo.

Does the sec gen protege gearbox (G-series?) come in ATX flavor as well?
