Uneven rear pad wear

Post by AZ-3,1498cc,UK »

The rear brake discs and pads were replaced approx 6000 miles ago on my mx-3. The pads have worn very unevenly now with the outer pad on one disc have just a few mm of thickness and the outer pad on the other disc hardly being worn at all. Any ideas what is causing this problem?

That happened to me too. What it was was, that little spring that holds the pads apart was broken so they were like constantly rubbing on the rotor. Bought a new one from the dealer for like $4 and it works like a charm now.

It could be that or perhaps the sliders are sticking. Depends on thorough they were when they did the install.

Make sure you get the piston re-entered (fully) by turning it clockwise until it stops when you are putting on some new brake pads.
