Front VC gasket change on a KFZE

Post by ocshaman »

I am getting some oil in a spark plug hole, and want to change the VC gasket. I don’t have access to an English mechanic or a repair manual in English, so I am asking here. What parts do I need to change out the VC gasket?

VC Gasket I have found for as low as $7 I think

what size, and how many of the little rings, for the VC closest to the radiator

Second, the gaskets I have seen are referred to as left and right, not front and back. How do I translate the left and right to front and back?

the front one should be the left one, and if the KF is the same as KL-ZE then you dont need those little rings they are built into the gasket. that is if your talking about the little rings around the plugs and stuff, also theres a seal built in the plug wires for the ZE so if yours is the same you may want to inspect those also.

wow, that is a cheap gasket. I don't have a kf so I'm not sure if they are the same gaskets as the klze but I'm sure they are close. Mine was like 130 for the front and rear gasket (I got them cheaper than that because I was able to get them at cost, but still a rip off). Are they the spagetti style rubber gaskets? If so where did you find them that cheap? Remember to use sealant when reinstalling the gasket. I think it calls for RV sealant in the shop manual. Run a bead of that on the valve cover when reinstalling the gasket. That will ensure you have the proper seal and no leaks.
