klze rods
klze rods
Looking to buy a klze and planning on maybe putting in a turbo. Im sure this was discussed in some other thread but just can't find it. I have heard that the ze rods will not hold up a lot of boost. I would like to find some rods to replace the stock ze rods, and was looking for some advice from someone. I don't know as much as some of the people in here so i would appreciate if someone can give me some advice on what to do about the rods. Where I can find some at a reasonable price.
true rods are weak, millenia s rods are stronger however use different connecting pin size so wont work with the ze pistons.
so you will need to get aftermarket rods
pauter make them for our cars.

well on http://www.importperformanceparts.net they have a wiseco piston and millenia rods sold together for i think 870 bucks more or less this is the set imma gonna get for my kl-de. the pauter rods are VERY expensive but im assuming they r also extremely strong. so how much boost do u think the pauter rods can hold up to?

A good resource to suit your needs wrt internals and rebuilding would be on Probetalk. Boundless amount of info in that regard. Welcome back!!

The wiseco piston/Millennia S rod combo is for the Millennia, not the Probe, 626 etc. to use the Millennia S rods, you would have to custom order some wiseco pistons with 21mm pin compared to the 20mm pin the wiseco for "our" cars use. Guess Pauter is the cheapest way to go.fieromx3 wrote:well on http://www.importperformanceparts.net they have a wiseco piston and millenia rods sold together for i think 870 bucks more or less this is the set imma gonna get for my kl-de. the pauter rods are VERY expensive but im assuming they r also extremely strong. so how much boost do u think the pauter rods can hold up to?

I know you guys heard me say this a thousand times but,
Maybe you should consider getting a KLDE instead of a KLZE?
One thing I learned about a week ago is that a KLDE will get more power from a turbo at 10PSI then a KLZE at 8PSI. Some people are even pushing 14PSI on stock internals on a KLDE.

I would guess the 'custom pistons' that they sell them with are already cut to the proper pin diameter to match the rods they're sold with. That'd be like selling a Playstation 2 and giving you Atari game cartiges to go with it.nope-mx3 wrote:The wiseco piston/Millennia S rod combo is for the Millennia, not the Probe, 626 etc. to use the Millennia S rods, you would have to custom order some wiseco pistons with 21mm pin compared to the 20mm pin the wiseco for "our" cars use.
