Mazda MX3 '93 Standard of '95 Auto...which should I buy?
Mazda MX3 '93 Standard of '95 Auto...which should I buy?
Hey guys! As you can see, I'm new here.
I want to buy a Precidia. I have two choices, both four cylinder models:
1: 1995,Auto Tranny at 126000 km.
2. 1993,manual tranny at 200 000 km.
The 1995 one costs $3000, while the '93 costs $2400.
I would prefer a manual tranny, but the '95 car does have a lot less miles on it. Which one should I buy?

an auto style for this car is worth 2 dollars
go with manual
manual is insanely much more fun and autos on these cars last about 2 days

From what I hear auto trannys are garbage. And I also heard that manuals are "bulletproof". So deffinately go with the manual. Go to this link to see the milage people are getting out of there cars but it doesn't say if there manual or auto.

I'm at 280,000km on my MTX and still working fine. This is a no brainer - manual transmission all the way. Ask anyone who's owned an automatic and had to get tranny repairs. $1,000 right off the bat just to crack the cases open. If you ever run into MTX probs there is a fair abundance of good used tranny's out there. If well taken care of, should be able to see well past 300,000km before any major engine work would be necassary. Haven't heard very many horror stories relating to broken MTX's. Either way, you'll probably find the 4cyl very under-powered. For that kind of money you can get a V6 with about the same mileage right from this BB in the for sale section. Buying from a lot can probaly run as much as 75% higher than what you could get a good used one for here at MX3.com.
Good luck and welcome to MX3.com!!

It seems something like those auto trannies go every 100k mi. Also, most new members in the MOCA forum join because they need help since their auto trannies crap on them. Speaking of which we have a new member going through the same thing.

If you fill out more of your profile as to where you live etc, you may find some members willing to direct you to some good private sales within your geographic location also. It's always good to improve your options.BADMIHAI wrote:Thanks for the advice, guys. I'll check out the for sales here aswell.

Dont buy the automatic
btw,
VERY smart move by coming to this forum to ask
If you didnt, well, you better have saved up $1500 for a tranny rebuild or MTX conversion
