air intake?check engine light

Hello guys. I have a 1993 dohc v6 5 speed mx-3 . My friend has a 1993 probe gt. we both installed his pvc cold air intake into my car. the fit was ok. had to do a little adjustment, everything came out ok but the only problem that i am having is that my check engine light comes on and off. The funny thing about all this is that the more revs i give it, it the light turns off or when i give it less revs, the lights turns off. Its wierd. Can anyone give me any onfo on how to correct this. The connection to the intake is ok.
