Now before I begin, Jeff and Barry I pmed both of you and didnt get an answer, so if this is not cool let me know.
I Frequent Honda-tech.com (Mainly the kills section) and A member of the site JG Luder ( Todd is his first name) Has his own Small business right now producing apparrel.
The name of his Company is Gearhead-gear.com
Right now he is only producing T-shirts for the guys, but he is in the process of making some for the ladies.
Now since the b---- Katrina hit the south he has agreed to donate 5$ for every T-shirt that he sells.
Now Each T-shirt is $20, but this is with shipping and paypal fees included.
Now that might seem high to some people but he is making very little if any money off of the shirts. I bought 2 (Huge rod and the top 10) For 40$ With what is donated + shiping costs + paypal, he made less than 25$ for 2 Tshirts.
Shipping was second to none, I bought them on Friday and recieved them today.

No offense man but how do we know all the money is actually going towards the Katrina cause?
If this is truely for the cause then why isn't he donating everything for the cause not just partially donating.
It's not like this guy is a registered charity or anything, for all we know he could be pocketing the money, there is no accountability here.
I'm sorry for being skeptical but there is just too many scams going on. The same sort of scams happened just after 9/11.

Well, No offense taken. I can understand no trust, but hes been a memeber on honda-tech since 2001, Not that post count really means anything but he has over 20,000 posts. (No not 2k, 20k). If I could hold his hand and make sure everything that says is getting donated, I would. But I can not. But why would someone who has made friends and spent almost 4 years on a website, want to throw it all away to make an extra 3$ per shirt. 3$ Dosent even get you a gallon of gas these days.Andrew_Pakula wrote:No offense man but how do we know all the money is actually going towards the Katrina cause?

Reason why he cannot donate everything is because its a small business in the begining stages. If you were to look at his website it hasnt gotten many hits. If he were to donate everything he would lose his business.
Todd is going to donate the money to the Red Cross Fund for hurricane Katrina Victims. What the RedCross Does with it? Who the hell knows....
Again if their are any questions comments or concerns, post them up here.

theres a difference between the red cross and these t-shirts. The red cross is a registered charity and with that must declare all the money comes in and what they do with it. This t-shirt guy is a small business and doesnt have to tell anyone what he did with the money. Registered charities are strictly regulated so that all the money is accounted for.
Its ok to say this guy has 20000 posts. But that doest not mean he needs to be accountable for his business deals over the internet. Maybe this guy posted 20k posts of bs just to make himself look good.
I'm all for charity work but my personal beliefs are that I'm not gonna be giving money to some guy on the internet that says hes giving a portion of the proceeds to charity. Thats like giving someone $500 that says they're gonna send you a cheque for $10000. $3 may not be a lot but if he were to sell 500000 shirts that adds up to $1.5 million. All of which he doesnt have to give to a charity because hes not regulated

Well all I can say is wow.
Its a small business hes not going to f---ing sell half a million T-shirts. If you would have happen to Visit the site before Jumping on the scammer bandwagon you would have f---ing noticed he only has had (well before he updated the site) about a hundred views.
For all the damn haters/bandwagoneers stay the f--- out .
If anyone else is interested I can see if Todd can put together a vouche list from Honda-tech.com, thought they are not allowed anymore I can not guarantee anything.

not hating at all just pointing out that hes not accountable to give any money to any charity. Nobody is jumping on bandwagons here were just pointing out the facts before people decide to go buy a shirt from this guy. When a tragedy happens there seems to be a lot of people that say they're selling t-shirts to help the victims of it but in most cases its just someone trying to make a quick buck.
If you dont like the criticism here then dont ask anyone to buy shirts. I'm being cautious as many people have been stung before on scams just like this. I went to his site btw before i posted. It doesnt look like a professional looking site and thats why I said what I said. It looks like something that was thrown up in less then an hour so he can make money like every other site.

IMO the only way to really help is to either donate to a church which is ON SITE doing good stuff, or to physically go down there and help yourself!
Donating to the red cross or similar major "charitieS" is just a waste. They are distributing 2000 dollar cards to people? The ppl get it and are like "wow i got 2 grand, i can afford a plasma TV" and piss it away. Meanwhile thye have 18 kids who are starving & have no housing or clothing.
Screw that..if the red cross has already had 1-2 gigantic lapses in judgement on how to spend the money they are getting...I sure as hell won't trust them to do a better job in the future!

they're not 'letting 16 eyar olds kids starve just to they can watch tv'. They disitrbuted the cards so the people could buy clothes and food and what not to live. Although a certain store (forget wher it was) already had two different people buy an 800$ Louis Vuitton bag with the all white credit cards.raidermaniac wrote:REALLY! is that what they're doing with the money?i didn't know this.these must be some real bad people,i mean first they're ALL shooting at the police or anyone who tries to help, and then they ALL looted the place till theres nothing left....and now you tell me they're letting their 18 kids starve just so they can watch plasma tv.now i know why the president didn't want to help them.thanks for the info gro,i'm keeping my money.Gro Harlem wrote: The ppl get it and are like "wow i got 2 grand, i can afford a plasma TV" and piss it away. Hey Guys Since Todd can not yet post in this forum he asked me to, He did recently join and has yet to get enough posts to post here and he wanted to clear up a few things before long.
Todd Wrote:
First of all, I suppose I should come right out and
say it. I’m not trying to steal anyone’s hard earned
money.
Having said that, I would like to point out a few
things:
#1. You aren’t donating money. I AM. This is
important to remember… Look at it this way if you
like, you’re buying a $15.00 t-shirt with $5.00
shipping and handling. I’m donating $5.00 of my OWN
profits to the cause. I’m not asking you to send me
money for no reason, I’m not trying to collect cash to
give to the red cross myself, I’m asking you to buy a
shirt to give me the MEANS to donate my own money, out
of my own account. I’m not rich, and I don’t run this
business full time. I do this because I enjoy being
creative and it helps support my car show habit.
My Aunt lost her entire house and everything in it.
She was in Mobile. This storm really hit home for me
because this isn’t some far away country… this was
America. I’ve lived in the south my entire life,
these are places that I have been going to and driving
past for years. Some people don’t understand that New
Orleans wasn’t the hardest hit. It gets all the
attention, but most of it’s damage was from flooding
after the storm. There are places in Mississippi that
don’t even EXIST anymore. Entire towns are leveled.
These are hardworking, decent people who not only lost
their homes, they lost their homes, their businesses,
their schools, their neighborhoods… it’s not just a
flooded house… I’m talking a driveway leading to a
foundation.
These places are a couple hours from me. I’ve been
through hurricane Ivan, Charlie and several others in
the last few years… had Katrina turned a little east
like it was supposed to then it could’ve been my house
with a tree on it with me searching for my family.
#2. I’m not an internet guru so maybe some of you
could do an exceedingly better job at building this
website than I did, but it took much longer than an
hour to get to where the site is now. Yes, it has a
long way to go… and no I will not pay someone $500 to
build it for me. I’m a do it yourself guy, and I
learn as I go. I didn’t start out with a 500whp
Prelude, it took years to get the knowledge to put one
of those together, and with the exception of machine
work, I built it myself. You should’ve seen the site
a month ago… and I imagine if you stop back by in a
month or two it will look vastly better.
#3. I’m not asking for a donation. Here was my
reasoning though: I don’t have a lot of money to
spare since I’m a senior in college (In fact, my car
has been put to the side ever since the Gumball), so I
can’t just cut a check. But I did decide that with
every shirt I sell I can donate $5.00. With paypal
fees, shipping through USPS, the cost of hosting the
site, having the shirts made, setting aside money for
taxes etc, you can pretty much see that I’m not
breaking the bank. It’s a lot less than $11.00 per
shirt that I see, and what little I do see I put back
into making more prototypes and designing more shirts.
#4. The Red Cross has muddled a bunch of stuff in the
past, but it’s the only charity that I feel safe
giving to. I would love to pick one family, get a
list of things they need, and then put the $50-$100 or
whatever I get towards that list. That way I could at
least show where the money was going. It’s hard to do
this without being down there. Although if I make a
trip in the next three weeks I might do just that.
I hope I didn’t come across as an a-- or anything,
because I really didn’t mean to. It’s hard trying to
explain your position on something like this to people
who don’t know you and not sound defensive. So please
excuse anything that came across wrong. I’d love to
get a group of Honda-Tech guys who have already bought
shirts come over here and post, but they can’t post in
this thread. (I tried.)
So if you feel like you’re being fleeced, then just
ignore the donation part, and buy a T-shirt. They’re
getting popular and you can’t get them anywhere else…
plus $20.00 for a shirt like this shipped to your door
isn’t excessive these days. I’ll donate the money
anyway.
If you have any questions, comments, or any other type
of feedback (besides negative) then you can post here,
or email me – Todd@gearhead-gear.com
Thanks for the honesty guys,
Sincerely,
Todd Weld

what about the mayor and governor? they are the ones who truly failed here...bush gave them full authority 30 hours befor the storm hit shores. The fed's dont' have authority to intervene in state-level crap unless asked to do so, and they weren't. the governor & mayor sat on their a-- whil their people suffered and only AFTER s--- hit the fan did they do anything.raidermaniac wrote:REALLY! is that what they're doing with the money?i didn't know this.these must be some real bad people,i mean first they're ALL shooting at the police or anyone who tries to help, and then they ALL looted the place till theres nothing left....and now you tell me they're letting their 18 kids starve just so they can watch plasma tv.now i know why the president didn't want to help them.thanks for the info gro,i'm keeping my money.Gro Harlem wrote: The ppl get it and are like "wow i got 2 grand, i can afford a plasma TV" and piss it away. So yeah, you can thank the democratic-retard gov't of Louisiana for this catastrophe, not Bush, not the Coast Guard, not anyone but their own state gov't.

i blame the people, they probably planned the whole thing just to get that gov't handout and a plasma tv. i mean who among us wouldn't give up everything they own in exchange for a cot in the superdome and a plasma tv.
i've heard some real stupid remarks about this disaster, including those from barbara bush, and your remarks rank near the top in stupidity....what a clown!
