Fuel gauge...

Post by drafious »

I've been driving around in my mx for about a year now with no fuel needle, time to fix it. I have a spare gauge cluser with a spare coolant needle, sorry to say but no fuel gauge to swap over :(, and electrics...was wondering if somebody could send me a pic of the rear of the fuel gauge assembly? reason being i've already snipped off the diodes without taking any notice of which bit came from where.

I guess my real question is, is it possible to take a coolant gauge and replace the fuel one?

Otherwise its off to the dealers to get me another cluster....bugger.

I dont think that will work mate,

The actual electrics in the gauge seem different, they have different resistors etc built in, so you could physically swap them but you would get false readings.

Go to a scrap yard and get an old set of dials and canabalise them.

Im not sure about aussie names but over here you can use

92-98 323F cluster 1.6 - 2.0
90-97 mx-3 cluster 1.6 - 1.8

Hope this helps.

if someone has the electrical know how to fix your problem im sure they will post after me, good luck!
