Close Calls

Post by azazel95 »

Anyone wanna share their close calls in their mx3? Anything like near wrecks, almost getting a ticket, whatever kinda close call you had, post it here.

Me and my girlfriend were out cruising around and we decided to go down a road we never been down before. Anyways, this road quickly turned from residential to middle of no where and curvy. After heading out about a half hour in on direction, we decide to turn back. On the way back, I see a corner coming up with a sign that only showed the slight bend arrow (not the 90 degree turn arrow, but the rounded turn one). Anyways, the turn ended up being damn near 90 degrees and I was doing about 50 when i hit it  . Well its safe to say we were sliding sideways for a good 5 secs around this turn. Luckily I have a stick so I was able to downshift and get the front wheels to pull us straight. Afterwards we stopped in the middle of the road and just sat there thinking, "I can't believe we didn't just wreck".

I LOVE MY CAR! Saved my life lol. If I would have done that in my previous car (Ford Taurus) we would have slid right off the road and prolly hit one good rollover at least with the way the ditch was on the side of the road.

Have had uncountable numbers of summertime bugs die on my windshield in high speed impacts. Does that count?

Other than that, several braindead cellphone users blissfully unaware of drifting into my lane at freeway speeds are the closest calls I've had and installing a set of Fiamm air horns seems to have helped cure the attention deficit of those idiots... :rant2:

I was going on this curvy mountain road and speed limit was about 35 on this curve but since I know this road well I was going over 70 and then my car started sliding so i let off on accel and went into neutral and countersteered and was able to regain control of the car. I know limits of the car now lol

when i was 17 my cousin and i were driving home after school. There was a pretty seriouse snow blizzard occuring and i was going about 70km/hr over a slight hill when i lost controll. I did a donut in the center of the road (luckily no one was coming the other way) at 60 km/hr and went into the ditch. We were stuck along with 5 other cars in no more than 100 meters. 2 min after we went in a 94 jetta came sliding in right beside us. I got my car pulled out and drove it home ( after cleaning out about 7 cm of snow that was packed into my muffler) This may not qualify as a close call but i got really lucky. About 1 meter from my car was a large cement culvert, if i had hit that... >.<

a couple years ago i was taking a bend at 55 (speed limit) my front right tire hit a pile of snow and i slid all the way around the corner completely sideways...if anyone was coming from the other direction my car would have been toast... i probably would have lived since my passenger side was facing oncoming traffic but still. this was in my escort gt. it was pretty funny that i didn't leave the road at all even though i went over 200 feet sideways.

It was winter time well somewhat there was know snow on the ground but they are useing this new sand this year. Me and few of my crew were coming up to are off ramp. I hit some of this new sand and it was liek hiting ice with these street tires. Well i put my baby side ways i was looking downhill to a theme park so i said screw that and cranked the wheel to the left and put my car in the ditch backwords on the other side of the road. There was no damage to the paint or body. I was realy lucky that day. Now this winter i will not drive my car no more. And if i do i am staying away from any sand ont he road.
