crankshaft timing gear

Post by violent_J_54021 »

Hi,
I am in desprate need to find a timing gear for my 1.6L DOHC. I was just wondering if any other cars had the same gear on them or not. I really need one to finish my car!
Thanks a bunch,

Cam gears. That is what you are talking about, right? The Miata's 1.6 and 1.8's will share the same gears and they are the same as the DOHC mx-3s.

he's talking about the gear on the crankshaft that the timing belt runs on. but it seams to me like the miata one's would work and probably the escort GT 1.8L and 90-94 mazda protege lx since they have B series engines...who know maybe even those new kias or hyundais or whatever company it is that is putting mazda BPs in their cars has the same one. you might just want to order one from the dealer though...and don't forget to buy the key for it too.

I was not sure what he was talking about....

Could have said " Hey, I need a timing belt sprocket that slides over the crank snout"....

hey everyone,
thanks for your replys. I ended up just going to the dealer and buying one. it was only forty bucks. I also wanted to apoligize if my question wasen't very understandable. I pulled a all nighter on my engine and by the time I wrote my question I was very tired.
Thanks again!
EricT

PS - the gear off the miata's won't work. The guy at the dealership said something about the "pulley boss" not being the same.
