well I paied for assembling of the block itself not the whole engine. I mean I paied to get the crank, rods, pistons , both crankcases together. I know clearence is something you don't want to take lightly and I don't have the tools to do it. I wanted to get the things right at first and not blow up the engine for something I forgot to do.
same with the heads I could have done it myself but the guy was charging me almost nothing to assemble them. The main cost of the heads was machining.
I put every back myself together like heads on block with HG, cams, tranny, clutch, belts, pumps, timing so I think I saved a bunch here.
