Improving Attendence At The Meets?

Post by Nd4SpdSe »

After reading some historic posts about the attendance (or lack there of) of the meets back in 2003, and things have anything but improved since. Especially with newcommer Kp2t, it's been embrassing to have on average 4 cars show up.

So I've been thinking, maybe we need a change? Is is the time? The date? The location? The drive?

This is who I see for active board members:

Toronto:
Kp2t
Nd4SpdSe
Deimos
Mx3grlsikride
RTT
Duo
David Witherow
sk8erdude28
Too Much Time
Typhoonk
Spinkx79
Marlon
Mx-3 Money
msequence
misfitsfiend
Selecta
bluebullet
Manowar
Skyblue
AZN_Playboy21
Darkness
Drewleedham
Mazdubber
johnnyb

Hamilton:
good_glory
beacbum
JWMX3
punk&drublic

Niagara:
jaschke
Chopperpozz
Nd4SpdSe
reaper of souls
Blackie
Flashpoint2
Sweeetmx3
Trevor

Barrie:
Fry_81
Quicksilver
MrSpanky

Unknown:
cdngrl420
Bandito
Mx3Chicka

So we could have a good sized meet with 41 fairly active member in Toronto Mx-3 section of the UBB. I know we have some fair distances to cover, ranging form Barrie to the Niagara region, which are quite the trek, and not everyone has the time or wants to drive that distance. But it seems the most interest is more towards the south-west of our current meeting location, with a good number of members from the Niagara/Hamilton area.

Personally I would vote to have and alternate to a second meeting place more towards or near hamilton, but what I wanna know is your personal opinions for improving the attendance to the meets?

a good location would be the Home Depot next to Yorkdale mall, it's right off the 401/allen

ACtually, it may be partially my fault since I did bring it up, but lets stick with the subject on how to improve attendance at the meets. If we find it's a distance/location issue that is the problem, that we can elaborate on it. But, to be a little more direct, I need the response to the question "why haven't you attended a meet". or something of the sort, trying to isolate the reason for low meet attendances and to hopefully improve on it.

i work wednesday to sunday either 4pmto 1am or 1pm to 1am so the times r hard and most of the meets r on these days. And driving all the way to TO is kind of far. I hope to make it out sometime this yearand hope maybe closer meeting places. Thanks Louie.

one in to, one in Niagara/Hamilton and one in k-w

we already have the big meet on july 3rd

maybe a meet it the end of july and then one in the middle of aug?

2 years ago we had a meet in kw and there were 7-9 cars i think
not to big but i bet we could get alot more now

why dont you guys switch up the places every now and then. Try and accomodate everyone. Just an idea here but:

Week 1: kennedy commons, kennedy & 401
Week 2: Timmies, Weston & 407
Week 3: Somewhere in Oakville or burlington
Week 4: Somewhere in Barrie

This way it caters to the entire crowd. Maybe the problem with the meets is distance. On wednesdays its after work/school people are tired they dont want to be out on the road all night going to a car meet.

Just my 2 cents but maybe it will help your attendance.

I like the suggestions of johnnyB and Marlon. Perhaps a variation of the 2 together to some degree might show improvement. For those like myself and Deb in Kingston who are willing to make the 2+ hour drive for a meet, perhaps since you already have an evening meet midweek that can satisfy those that live nearby, perhaps make the Sunday meet timings for mid afternoon. That way it gives time for those who have to travel further than most and it also affords the opportunity to be able to return home at a reasonable hour Sunday evening before beginning the work/school week. Just a few ideas.
