Well if you ever plan on swapping get an obd1 so 95 and under. The 94+ gs models had the wrap around spoiler which is everyones fav. They also had the disty problem fixed and have a mope modern looking interior and nicer looking rims. Other then that, they are all the same. I would go with either a 94 or 95.

I have a 94 and like the newer style interior alot more, like mentioned above theres no distributor probs on the 94 v6's

the 92-93 have better front seats, but ive swaped those into my 94 :)

in canada there were 95/96 GSs with nicer rims (only in canada) that even the miata guys like.

only other downside of 95/96 is they are ODB II, which is harder to do an engine swap.

Ya, we discussed that a few weeks ago, it seems that it's hit-and-miss on 95's, and even some 94's on if they were OBDI or II, but 96's should all be OBDII

92-93's

-I like the more basic dash style
-3rd temp sensor to facilitate ZE swap
-Sporty front seats
-Side panels flow around to the rear seats (a styling accent i really like)
-No airbags to (illegally) remove to install my LCD monitor and aftermarket steering wheel.
-Leather seats if you find a 93-SE
-The rare squared mazda symbol on early-92 models

One thing i like about the 94+
-stock cupholders

Just so you know Nd4SpdSe, it's perfectly legal to remove airbags.

the absolute best mx3 to buy is the 93 SE. You can always upgrade the interior to a 94+ style. To convert any other year to 93 parts is a bit more difficult cause at times its hard to find SE parts and theres always a 94+ mx3 in your local junkyard

Really? I've never actually looked into it since none of my car's have airbags, but it's something I've been told since I've put an aftermarket steering wheel on

While it may not be illegal in your area to remove your airbag.. if you dont report that it has been removed from your car to your insurance company (so they can raise your rates of course) then your Insurance company could legally refuse to pay out in some circumstances. Yeah its just another insurance scam that insurance companies do.. but give a lawyer a loop hole and he will hang you with it.

Of course, should you remove them and not tell your insurance company, they can refuse to payout on claims made - citing the lack of an airbag as a contributing factor.

They can, in most cases, find pretty much anything to be a reason for not paying out a claim. They don't make billions every year by being generous with our money after all...

92 - 93 are my favorite..
I just love the look of the interior, and the steering wheel especially. I hate those 4 spoked ones.

Mine came stock with alloys. Hubcaps suck
