HELP!!! Desperately needed!

Post by Dragon1976_27 »

K, so I ripped apart my engine's upper portion to replce a bad valve cover gasket on the firewall side of my motor. I was meticulous about everthing! What goes where, what connects with what, and now my car will not start. Good starter, good battery, if I leave it for about 5 minutes it makes one firing sound as if it's gonna turn over. Not sure what's going on or how to rectify it! ANYTHING offered would be appreciated.

Just double check to make sure you didn't leave any major vaccum leaks.

Double check your fuel injector wiring harness.. make sure its all plugged in. Did you move the distributor at all while you were working on it? Make sure you have the vacuum line for your FPR solenoid connected to both the solenoid and the FPR. Check for spark.. etc... like Mazdubber said.. just gotta double and triple check everything.

I didn't, I labeled ever connection, and ever hose on the engine as I took em off (used tape) and re connected accordingly while reassembling.

Does the starter crank the engine over at all? If not.. double check your battery terminal connections.

Starter turns over the engine, Fuel Injector Wiring harness connections are properly connected I followed through all vacuum lines, and wiring harness connections, and Left nothing unturned, and no about my distributor, I never had to touch it cause I only needed to replace the gasket on the firewall side

Got a timing light handy? You will need a friend to turn the key for you on this check..

Hookup the timing light over each plug wire (one at a time) and crank the engine.. make sure the timing light fires at least somewhat consistantly. If the timing light fires on every plug wire.. then you at least know its getting spark. (I prefer this method over the holding the spark plug with a pair of plyers and potentially getting your Azz shocked off.)

If you are getting spark.. gotta move on and check fuel...

Did you disconnect the fuel lines? I assume you did since you removed the intake manifold. Is the fuel pump running? If so, prime it quite a few times to get the air out of the system. Also, make sure the EGR is hooked up properly because that would lead to a huge vacuum leak. Double check the grounds as well.

SO HERE IS THE REsULT ON THIS ONE GUYS & GALS!!!!!!

I had the car towed to one of the local shops and me and the mechanic worked on it together. We thought fuel was the issue too, cuz the engine would attempt to start, and it would successfully if you used engine starter. Checked the fuel pump, all good, no issues. :dunno:

Good Pump, Good lines, no pressure though..... CURSED CAR!!!!

It turns out after 4 hours of crap, that my ECU wasn't grounding the relay for the fuel pump. So, because there isn't constant power supplied to that relay, we grounded it to the frame, and all is well again. It's the stupidest thing I think I've ever come across in a vehicle, so I figured I should post it to let everyone know just in case some poor soul should ever come across this situation ever again. It cost me $275 Canadian  to find that out which sux but sh*t happens! ANyhow, I'm a happy driver once again :D ! THanks for all the help and quick responses, you guys kick @$$! (Time to go do an oil change!) :werd:
