That ECU would probably be the same as mine, a KL01. Not sure if the KL01 was MT or AT sensitive.mxmaz wrote:Your car is obd-1. I'm thinking you would need a kl02 vaf and an ecu out of a 93-95 mx6, probe gt, or 626. And the intake manifold that comes on the klde will fit fine it only has a short neck.

Well, I definately am staying with my standard tranny, I mean what's the point of doing the upgrade if you have an automatic. Standard is the only way to go! I was unaware that ECU's were programmed differently for standards and automatics, but since they are I'll have to go hunting for a standard ecu. So if the MX-6 motor I have is 1996 does that mean I'll need an ECU from a 1996 MX-6 standard? Additionally will that mean switching to OBDii, as you stated that OBDii was standard for 96 and up?

So the KL01 ECU should compliment the KL02 VAF for his particular application??mxmaz wrote:If your car is obd1, keep it that way and get a kl02 vaf and an ecu from an obd1 car that has a klde engine and 5spd tranny. You wont be able to use an obd2 ecu even if your car is obd2 because they werent interchangable to the mx3's harness.
