I've got to go with the civic, purely because of the fact they are played out. Upgrades are redily available, and it is much more expensive to build an MX-3 DOHC. When it is all said and done, the MX-3 can be made much tougher and faster, but for someone who wants to build a cheap little pocket rocket that will not stand out in a crowd, a civic is the way to go. MX-3 til I die baby!
It might be slow, but it's not a civic!

More than likely the civic will win when it comes to performance..Lot of parts and cheap to buy.

lets compare 93 mx3 vs 93 civics, 2 door and hatchback, Id still take mx3, mure more style than any 93 civic, and since Ive got GS SE i wouldnt want any civic. MX3 gs is like little porsche to me, civic is little grocery getter, everyday driver

more 9 second civics than Mx3s as the civic is a bigger market,

although of the same year, and not tons of cash dumped in... I prefer the engine of hte Mazda for poor boy racers like me. Also not as twitchy as my old Si way back...
