Fuel usage meter

Hi all,

i new here, own a mx-3 GS vor 3 months now.
I 've had a VW corrado VR6 before(thank god I sold it
my mx is a little slower then the VW but i like it better.
i have one question,

is it possible to install a "current fuel usage" meter, of "average fuel usage" meter?
if so, where can I get info about that ?
and has someone already done this ?

i hope it is possible, because, i liked it in my previous car.

Anything is possible.. My uncle has a Toyota Prius that has a digital readout showing fuel consumption.. honestly.. I hadnt thought much about it.. but it would be kind of cool to come up with something similar.. I doubt there would be a way to adapt the Prius Display though.. likely you would have to get into the technical manuals and figure out which part of the donor cars computer reads the sensors involved and then which part of the computer outputs the info to the display.. would require a bit of custom wiring.. or hey.. maybe there is an even easier way to do it that I am unaware of.. interesting idea though..

custom wireing isn't really a problem, i'm quite good at technical stuff.
know a little bit about everything
I 've been looking for a while now, but can't find something "working out of the box".
Actually haven't found anything for a precise calculation.
i'm now working on a CarPC, with Mac mini.
writing software in Java, so it would be cewl if I simply could write this in my CarPc programm.

you can find these at various online stores all over the net and the vary from $140 to $250 usd depending on the store. looks pretty good to me.

i already found this one, i don't think it's very accurate as thay say.
and i really would like to know consuption per 100km.
