Still loved that Autobahn. Shaving 10 minutes off was never the issue. Gotta try it to know.

First off, ATLmx3 has a good knowledge of Mazda and MX3, and I'm sure you knew what he meant by saying "LONG,LONG time..."

Secondly, "MAZDASPEED" was originally a private race team in Toyko called Mazda Sports Corner back in '67. In 1983, Mazda hooked up with MSC back at their headquarters in Hiroshima. THIS, is when MAZDASPEED is considered to have its birth. Mazda racers and MAZDASPEED in general pretty much piloted rotary powered cars until in 1991 when they won LeMans and FIA banned the rotary engine. From then, they focused on grassroots racing. Now, theoretically, sure, MS would have been in prime time to make a MS MX-3. But did it happen? No. Lots of knowledgeable people have passed through this site and the e-mail yahoo group. If there was such a MS MX-3, we would know about it. Why? Because I'm sure everyone of us would be dying to own one.

180km/h is, frankly, nothing on an Autobahn. You'll be continually flashed out of the passing lane by guys in Mercs and Beamers sitting on their 155mph (250km/h ish) limiter - and they'll be shoved out of the way by people in Porsche 996 911 GT3s running at 300km/h+. Because they can...

DavidOS - So, you got pretty much the same response from Japan that I have so far then? :D
That is correct i never got a response from Mazdaspeed Japan.

Maybe if you called them do you speak japanese? if you do id recomend even calling them.
Hai. Watashi wa nihon-go o wakarimasu.

:D

RaverChankoMX3 - I agree entirely. But until I get a concrete answer from Mazda or Mazdaspeed Japan themselves, I'm not giving up... :D

For reference, Mazda UK's official response went something like this:

"What?"
"Well... you know Mazdaspeed, right?"
"No."
"Your in-house tuners?"
"Who?"

*sounds of repeated slamming of head into brick wall*

I'm still waiting on Mazda Japan. Must be a satellite delay or something... :D

Why did they ban the rotary engine? They must be jealous.

The rotary engine had the advantage of being incredibly light, allowing them to basically do whatever they wanted with the rest of the car. You could pick up the 787B's quad-rotor on your own - probably with one hand...

Well, it's not that it *can't* fit in the mx, it's just that it would take ALOT of modification. I mean, you'd have to change the tranny, get a rear diff, modify the engine mounts (or get new ones), redo all the wiring.. it's alot of work. I suppose it would be worth it if you could get a 3-rotor TT, but..[/quote]

It will fit, didn't Marcus Acosta or whatever his name is, have or / had a Rotary powered mx-3, back in the day that used to be a big contender on the drag circuit. I guess he isn't around anymore at least to my knowlegde but that was a pretty awesome car. Too bad Mazda didn't put that motor in the MX otherwise it would be one of the badest cars ever!

That was a tube frame with an MX-3 shell. It was NOT an MX-3. He could have put an RX-7 body on it if he wanted to.

And-- I guess I should clarify my statement in my sig.

ANY Engine (Rotary, V6, Jet, hamster wheel) CAN fit in the MX-3 engine bay/MX-3 chassis, and with enough time and money it can run and run fast.

However,- I get tired of the tards and losers who ask if it will "BOLT IN" or HOW Much work is required for it to bolt in or whatever. Most of them who ask if it will fit-- want it to simply drop in and dont want to do any work associated with it.

So- the answer I give them is NO it wont FIT because they are wanting to know if it will bolt in... and of course it wont.

And- WTF does this have anything to do with the Mazdaspeed topic?

Famine,

I know ur hooked on this mazda speed thing but i doubt it'll happen....if you havent already thought of it do what i'm planning on doing......

Send your car off to Blackmagic in Holland and get a 2.5 dropped in and scare the hell out of all the boy racers with your 200Bhp+ toy. Believe me with the 2.5 KLZE in your car will destroy almost anything on the road over here. ITR's CTR's Scooby's MR2's VR6's Alfa Spiders(except the 3.2 V6) Pug206-gti180....

It has one other cool factor....it looks identical to a standard 1.8 unit so if ur feeling dishonest you dont even have to declare it to those insurance nazi's....and if you have a crash they will never be able to tell it apart from a standard 1.8 as the block is the same size etc......

Do it.....Do it.....Just Do it!

the reason he doesn't do an engine swap is that he has to keep it stock for insurance reasons... but if he can get it to fall under the mazdaspeed option of the car then he can fix it up a little better than the basic mx-3 but still call is "stock"

Yes I understand that...however I am advocating that Mr Famine....puts the KL-ZE in, and doesnt tell his insurance....because they will never know.....

I had my car in for an MOT and the idiots at the garage thought that I had an MX-6 so they wondered why my emissions didnt match the profile of a 2.5, thats the benefit of this car being so obscure.....people dont really know what its suppose to lok like anyway.

UK V6's look pretty good anyway, they have decent body kits as standard so just stick on the mazdaspeeed spoiler and you have a winner..... and if you have a crash....just rip the thing of and hide it.

I would also say however... that the mazdaspeed bodykit parts are very sutble and look like they should be on the car unlike some of the more in your face designs....therefore I doubt an insurance assesor would even realise that the parts were not factory origionals.

Anyway I know what I am saying is borderline illegal over here and to be honest I dont care...there's no way Im letting this countries ridiculous insurance rules ruin my fun....if they are willing to shaft me every year for ridiculous premiums....I'm gonna make damn sure i get my monies worth.

Anyway...Rant Over.....Normal Service to resume forthwith.

Thankyou.
