Timing belt? Idle problems?

Timing belt? Idle problems?
Has anyone had a problem with their idle? In the past few days when i shift down and come to a stop, my car idles below 1000 rpm, and quits. I have been told to change my timing belt around 60K and i am about to hit 58K. Can anyone help me before i go pay somone to look at it? maybe check your fuel pump or fire components...i d'ont think its the timing belt
