coolant leak?

Post by 93SOHC »

Just wonderin if anyone know if there are any common spots where coolant leaks on the 1.6sohc? Its not pouring out, but I notice a few drips on the snow where I park, and have had to add a bit over the past months. My engine compartment is so dirty from a valve cover and disty o-ring leak, I cant tell where the heck its comin from. If I can't find it i'm gonna have to pay someone to pressure test it, cause I got quite a few road trips comin up in the next months

It seems to be dripping off the front/bottom of the engine. As far as in the engine compartment, im not sure casue there's so much dirt and oil in there. It coluld be the rad, but it doesnt seem to have any coolant under it

yo, i had a leak just a few days ago. THere is a hose, small, maybe 8 inches total, that comes off of right below the valve cover, does a 180, and plugs back into a larger hose. It is right in front and very visiable. Its the only hose you will see with a 180 dgree bend. it has a spring clamp on either end. Replace it with a NEW peice of hose, and screw type hose clamps. Problem solved for me. Look at it after the car is hot and see if you see drop,,,,,drop,,,,,,,drop cocming from it

i have a big coolant leak ...the car doesnt leak when its parked. the fluid in the coolant resevoir always dissapears after a day. the next morning il check and it will be empty, ill fill it with water (cause im tired of throwin away antifreeze) and by the end of the day it will be empty. i do not notice anything on the ground tho.

radiators like to crack & leak.

If not, depending on location it can be your thermostat housing gasket (under distributor) or your water pump inlet gasket (under exhaust manifold, near the power steering & above a/c compressor).

IF not, it could be your water pump gasket, but that would mean it'd be leaking from under the timing belt cover and isn't a very likely source of the leak.

its likey your BYpass tube its the metal one on the front of the engine runs from the water pump to just behind the head! check it for rust!! and another thing most leaks do not leak untill the car is at running temp and the system is under pressure
