*** SUSPENSION *** ?

Post by Thumbs Up »

OK, I want to lower my car a good bit don't want real bad camber though.

DON"T wanna spend much....

Will the civic dropzone Coilovers and Zx2's whatever struts be sufficient ?

I here all the dropzone coilovers are the same....

DOES ANYONE HAVE A FREAKIN" PICS with these springs on I can't find any?

THANKS

i do not reccommend dropzones, lots a people have had problems with them cus they are cheap junk

and you want to lower it a good bit but dont want bad camber ??
well unfortunatly lowering your car gives negative camber quite a bit especially if you go 1.5 inches or more....... you will have to get a 4 wheel alignment after your new suspension is installed to correct the camber and toe

no im sure civic springs cant be used on mx3's...... but i think escort springs can

there are lots of other options out there

Suspension techniques
H & R s
B&G
Eibach

You should at least see if you can find a deal on one of these, i know dropzones are light on the wallet but if you look hard you can probably fine some better springs for not too much more (maybe even used)

Edit: yeah zx2's are good....

Account for installing camber adjusting bolts x2 for each wheel if you go past the 1.5" lowering point. For bolts, they're pretty pricey. Alignments for lowered cars will probably cost more than just a regular alignment. All of these have to be factored in.

camber adjusting bolts x2 for each wheel
Thats One per wheel... you only need to replace the upper strut bolt with a camber bolt. 4 bolts total.

by saying will civic springs work?? im assuming you mean will they fit and will they do a good job.

They can fit and no they wont do a good job. Cars have different handling characteristics and weight ratios civics are a completely different car to ours in terms of weights and what their manufactures intentions were for the car.

Hey waterboy...oooops I mean JWMX3...LOL. Well almost 1 bolt per wheel. Crunching some negative camber degree correction numbers with various suppliers and basically - 1 bolt per wheel for a 1.5" drop SHOULD give back enough correction - SHOULD. It's right on the border. I wouldn't want to find out while it's on the hoist that I need another bolt and have to go through the extra expense (second alignment). If my alignment this spring only needs 1 per then I'll have an extra set of bolts - could use for paperweights maybe...LOL

well im lowered 2 inches front and 1.5 at the rear..... one bolt for each strut gave me plenty of adjustment

thats right, waterboy said TWO INCHES one bolt plenty adjustment

JW - Are you back to factory camber specs or did you leave a little axtra negative camber for that extra cornering ability. If so, how has it proved out with regards to tire wear - excessive?
It must take the challenge out of "snake road".....LOL

i had it put right back to factory specs.... but I've heard that a little neg. camber dosent wear tires any faster at all, it just wears them towards the inside of the tire but at the same rate.. its toe-in that causes excessive tread wear if thats not corrected after you lower it

when im driving my car in the spring again I will have to go for another alignment after it went on the "frame straightener".... maybe ill get them to leave it -1 degree so i can go back to snake road and show em whos boss :P
